Anyone catch sight of a rainbow the last couple days? The rain has been a nice change from the norm.
The last time I saw a rainbow like that was in Maui.

That all 4 4th gen 5100s or just rear? Been thinking about picking up some 5100s for the Tacoma. Not planning on lifting but my stock shocks have 105k miles on them.
Just rear but you're still saving if you pick this up and then buy fronts. The fronts are still on Lola!
Opps you're right I had it backwards from my first statement, the higher the duty cycle % the better. Basically the higher the duty % the longer you can run the compressor before it needs to cool down. My 400c compressor is also pretty hot after I fill all 4 of my tires from 20lbs to 35lbs.
My single arb is 30% I think and we aired up two trucks, one with 32s and one with 33s no problem. I thought I read somewhere that the % is basically how long it can run straight before needing an hour rest. So 30 mins straight to an hour rest. Nice thing about the oba is that it stops between tires. So gets a quick break.I went from the 400p to the 440p lol. The 400 being full duty cycle, but super slow. The 400 being 33% but still allowing to fill 2 sets of 33"s from 18 to 40lbs.

I was able to do 2 set of tires also but damn the compressor was so hot after! I actually had 2 400c compressors in my Audi so when filling my 5 gallon air tank in the trunk it would only take 40sec or so. I just wanted the tank to fill as fast as possible. I sold my one for $80 and re purposed the other one into a portable unit.My single arb is 30% I think and we aired up two trucks, one with 32s and one with 33s no problem. Haha not gonna lie, my plan was to eat a 4x4 from in-n-out in my 4x4 with my 4BYFOUR license plate. I waited so long for this, and now it's gonna happen this weekend :girl:
That's not exactly true, you want to look at the duty cycle also. I have a Viair 400 (similar to 88P) which I re purposed from my air suspension from my Audi. Both 88P and 90P compressors you're looking at are good up to 120 max psi meaning they can pump up to that amount, so either will work for all sized tires.
The duty cycle shows how long it can run before it needs to be shut down from overheating. The lower the % better, meaning the one with lower % can be run longer before it overheats. Generally the lower % pumps less air and will take longer for each tire to be filled. Think of the 88P as a sprint racer and the 90P as a marathon racer.
So both would be fine filling up 4 tires after airing down for a trail run but if you plan to let someone in the group borrow it to fill up theirs then I'd get the 90P as it can run longer without overheating.
I have the 88p and I air up from 18psi to 40 psi on 255/80/17 (skinny 33's) in about 4 mins per tire. For the price it's a decent compressor. I use an ammo can to store it since it doesn't come with a bag. They get super hot after use so an ammo can is better than a nylon bag anyways IMO. The only word of wisdom with the 88p is to check your psi manually with a decent air gauge as you near your desired psi. The one on the compressor isn't very accurate and I'm usually 2-3psi lower than what the built in gauge is reading. I bet most economy compressors are similar in that regard.
I haven't tried the 90p either, but I bought he 88p based off the tire size recommendations on Viair's website. My understanding about duty cycle is that the higher percentage means the more minutes per hour it can be run before needing to cool.
good info! thanks for sharing. i'm in the market for a compressor as well and this helps. any other compressor recommendations out there?Opps you're right I had it backwards from my first statement, the higher the duty cycle % the better. I'm glad the question about compressors came up. I've been looking at compressors, as well. I don't want to drop to cash on the double ARB compressors which seem to be highly regarded, so I'm trying to narrow down some other options. I've read mixed reviews on the Viair compressors, including the OBA packages, due to being slow (really?). While not as fancy as the ARB and Viair compressors, I've also read very good reviews on the 1.5 gl Puma compressors. There is a lengthy thread on IH8MUD about the compressors - guys using it as a "portable" compressor and also separating the small tank and compressor to make an OBA set up. It has a higher CFM than the single ARB and Viair compressors. Then again, I'm not sure how the stated specs for these compressors play out on the side of a trail, especially with hot, dry, and dusty conditions in SoCal.
Which model do you have? It looks like nearly all of the single ARB compressors are 50% duty cycle, but I was curious how long it takes the single ARB to fill the tire sizes you mentioned.
This is a temporary spot until I build the cargo box and then it'll have it's own section for the compressor, hose, and accessories.

240 shipped on a group buy deal and another 30 for the air up package and hose, 30 for the air gauge. Not terrible, but I do love it. Plus it can handle dual lockers when I'm ready. For 300 bucks it should blow you between tires and not need no damn break ...holy crap.
I have a Viair and yes they are sloooooow....

Yeah I remember you got it from Chase at MRT.
Naw, got the Icons from Chas, got the OBA from Total Automotive. I'd highly suggest avoiding Chas at this point though.
Whys that ...shady?
