Looks like this purchase was motivated by the boulders you got close and personal with on the John Bull Trail, that trail seems to have that affect on people, making them spend money on things sooner than expected....Hahahaha

It was a little drawn out. Actually found two seemingly equal ones - one in Phoenix and the other in Vegas. Phoenix was cheaper by a few hundred so I called them first. They were putting a lift and tires on it so I wan't interested in that.
Called Vegas, asked if any deals were pending, he said no, sent me all the info on it and asked when I would be coming in for a test drive. Told him I'll be flying in if we can work something out on price. Made an offer of what the Phoenix one was going for, which according a friend who owns a dealership was a great price.
They took a few hours to call me back which had me sweating a bit - my only other option was to wait another 2 weeks for another one from the Phoenix dealer to reach shore.
They accepted the offer. I sent a CC authorization for deposit, told them what time I was flying in and asked for a pick up.
You can either pay the CA tax etc there or sign an affidavit that you will pay when you get back to CA. They work with a service that contacts you and gives you a list of things they need and then they handle the registration in CA - like VIN check at DMV, Smog check (even though the car is brand new) and a hefty check.
Pretty easy really. When it's all said and done ask for a free hat just to really pretend like you won!

the thing is, dealers can't hide pricing anymore. The internet has killed their dealing power. It doesn't matter if you pay cash or finance either. Car sales is a volume game now, nobody really holds a power position, unless there just aren't any vehicles or you're overly specific on requirements.
I bought mine in June of '15. if you're looking for a deal on a '16 i guess now is the time for that to happen.
Also, my flight to vegas was $89 one way and they give you a tank of gas in the car which got me to my home with a little left to get to work the next day! Phoenix would have cost me $200 for a one way and its a further drive home - I scored!

Thought I would share some mods/upgrades I added to lucy pearl to get ready for the death valley trip. Dual battery, fridge, fridge slider, 12v rear cargo mod and platform cargo. Give you guys ideas and improvements. I installed the 12v/12v monitor/usb charger right of the fridge by the cargo storage.

the wiring i circled in green. what did you use to make it/where did you get it?
the purple... is that fridge related stuff?
and how come i dont see where your fuse box is actually wired up to the battery? is it tucked behind the fuse box?
and what's up with the bungee cords?

Here's what I used with help from [MENTION=123332]Drunner97[/MENTION]. Starter red optima and yellow is the deep cycle battery. I attached the wiring diagram. The red and purple circle are the fuses between the battery before and after the stinger relay. The green circle left is the 1/0 Pos wire from pos battery to the fuse. Right green circle is the neg 10 awg wire connect from the battery to the 12v plug rear cargo with a 5amp fuse and pos is connected to pos battery. All accessories attached to the yellow deep cycle battery. The fridge has a 15 amp fuse in it. The bunge is to temp hold the coolant reservoir until I get a more permanent solution. It held well wheelin at death valley.
I bought soldering equipment from harbor freight as well as plumbers torch. I soldered the 1/0 wire to the terminal connector. I would by shrink wrap to make it more clean. I still have to do that but I wrapped it with electrical tape.
Here's my item list. 1/0 cable comes with 1 fuse holder so you just need one extra.

mgifford - I was in a hurry to get into a 4Runner, after my last car was totaled Lest Feb. (f’n tweakers!). My local HB dealership strung me along for a couple weeks, saying they were trying to procure a couple different VINs for me but I got tired of waiting. I ended up working with Jeff Chang at Longo Toyota in El Monte. At the time, Longo had 46 4Runners on their lot, while the most I found at dealers elsewhere, even as far south as San Diego, was nine. I would hope you can find a better deal now than I was early this year. My deal wasn’t thrilling but Longo matched the best I had found previously and the whole process was quick, smooth, with no b.s. And since I didn’t have a ride to get to El Monte, Longo credited me the cost of an Uber there.

It's pretty tight in there and yes the factory hold bracket is holding down both battery. The bungee is just holding the reservoir. It's sitting on a 4 inch l bracket. I had to fabricate the tray and reservoir bracket. It held down per death valley wheelin.
The cobbler turned out great and delicious. I used 2 cans of peach but should have used 3 cans. The group enjoyed it. I also cooked green bean casserole and turned out great.

I think I saw somewhere you can put your reservoir right in front of the air box and it mounts up.

We still need to make it out to moon valley. I'm our of work on the 9th and then don't start back until Valentine's day, so I'm good whenever!

i'm right here in HB also. i went through my buddy jeff who's an autobroker.. he found my car in 24 hours.. i just filled out the credit app through his site and he brought the car to my house and i filled out contracts within 5 mins. never spent a second at the dealership.. it was the easiest thing i've ever done..
you tell him what u can put down/want to pay monthly and he will let you know what he can do or get for you based on your credit history.

That casserole was ridiculously good. I must have missed desert because I don't remember the cobbler. Might have been about the time I was falling out of chairs. hahaha. I had that single malt for desert, mmmmm.

Thanks J! It was a lot of work but glad I did it. Now it's a lot easier to add accessories. Saw the reservoir at the air box too but need to purchase smaller reservoir to fit. Got to do that in the future. I'm down with valley moon. Got to see what's coming up on the weekends. This weekend is christmas decoration with the fam and I have to figure out why my turn signal fuse keeps blowing when I switch the turn signal left.
