So I bought some Duratracs

I ran over something on the freeway on Labor day and ruined one of my Goodyear Silent Armors. After that I planned on getting 2 new tires, 1 with warranty and buy one...so I wouldn't have 1 new oddball tire. With the Goodyear prorated warranty I had purchased, the 2 replacement tires were going to cost me around $550 from the Goodyear store. I also asked to quote me a set of Duratracs just for giggles....and it was 1400 with no road hazard. I was a little pissed that with the prorated warranty, the replacement tire cost almost as much as I paid for the tire in the first place.

So today I went down to Discount Tires to quote 2 Goodyear Silent Armors and again just for kicks a set of 4 (285 70 R17) Duratracs, the total out the door cost with 4 road hazards and getting to keep one of my Goodyear Silent Armors as a spare was 1000$ exactly. Since I recently put on the Icon lift, I figured what the hell and got them. Discount made it super easy, can't say enough about the people at the store here.

That looks great! Should help OR too. I get the Icon set-up installed on Friday on my wife's 4Runner...

Well, they definitely have more hum than the Silent Armors, haven't had a chance to drive highway speeds with them yet. Not sure about the gas mileage hit either. These are load D 285s and the SAs were load C 275s, so I expect it'll be noticeable. Let you know when I use them more.
