So I was poking around JC Whitney online...

...and found myself pricing out some exhausts. Was looking at the Magnaflow system and then stumbled across an exhaust system made by Gibson Performance Exhaust? Even in full-stainless, the price is right and the reviews are good.

So now I'm curious if anyone has or had one of these systems on anything they have driven and am wondering about the quality.

I had the Gibson True dual exhaust on my 5.7 Tundra and it sounded great. Not too loud and everything fit well. Only complaint I had was the exhaust used clamps instead of a flange.

Sounds pretty nice. How long have you had it? I'm wondering how it would hold up to winters in New England? Would hate to end up needing a replacement in 5 years, ya know?

I've only had it on since June, so I can't say what kind of shape it'll be in 5 years. Because of budget constraints and the fact that I keep salt build-up to a minimum (I live next to the Great Salt Lake), I didn't go with the stainless steel version. I'm sure there are some members on here who have had it longer and can give you more information on longevity. Figure if my original exhaust has held up for the past 7 years, then this has got to be worth at least that.

Neither myself nor my wife feel like there is any negative or overbearing resonance in the cab. Yes, you will hear it (especially coming from stock) but that's the whole point. It is very quiet at idle, gives a nice rumble at low-to-moderate acceleration, and gives a sharpened pitch at high speed/rpm's. I absolutely love flooring it from a stop where you can hear it go through the whole range. I can hear it on the freeway, but I can't say that it is a nuisance. While the 4R is naturally very quiet, I don't feel I have to raise my voice at all to have a conversation. My wife's ears are very sensitive and she has no problem using the 4R as her daily driver.

I'm not satisfied with the sound quality of my YouTube video. If I get some time this week, I'll make a new one that will include some interior recordings.
One side note: check the condition of the doughnut gasket before you take the old exhaust off. If it needs replacing, get one before you start. It took some hunting around to find the right one.

Yeah, I completely understand that there will be some additional cabin noise. The question was more about whether or not the system was designed to sound nice to the driver or sound nice to the rest of the world.

I had a B&B TriFlow on one of my BMW's and while it sounded great, it seemed like all the noise was dumped directly into the cabin because from the exterior it wasn't all that loud. After about 10hrs on the road it got old.

Just wanna make sure that, when I'm towing from NH to, say, VA and back that I'm not going to end up hating my 4Runner after....not that I hated the BMW but when a vehicle wears out its driver after a few hours and simply from exhaust noise, something has to change IMO. Then again, who doesn't love the sound of a strapping V8?

Regarding the YT video, sounds to me like the system has a really nice bark to it where it's appropriate in the rev range. If you're doing the interior vid just for me, thank you but something like that, I feel, I would need to experience first hand. My goal is to avoid the droning on the highway but you gave me a great idea......just floor it! lol

I've had it for 3 years now, and love it! it's sounds just right. Also like that it's a single out and not duals, just don't like that look on non-sports car.
