Socal July meet

I've been doing a lot of research but simply doing research isn't enough to provide good feedback about locations to go. But I've been itching to go! Big bear looks great but there are a lot of trails out there and some get very tricky. I just got a book to look up the levels and trails but haven't had time to look into it yet. I hope to pick out a trail or two and post it up here for people's opinions.

Here are a bunch of places in Big Bear
This stuff goes on and on and on... Lots of great information... More at Big Bear
Trails in general

And another good source for general trails

But for all this info, I wouldn't know where to start or meet up or anything so... I'm not the right person to plan it...

With that said. I'm down for either weekend. Maybe plus 1 or 2.

Yea I've never been offroading in bear either... From what I hear there are some mild trails to extreme trails which require like 33's lockers and sliders or your not going to be able to make it. Unfortunately none of which I have at the moment.... But like I said I'm down to go and wing it and see what we can manage if no one really knows the trails.

Looks like a fairly decent run on google maps. How long of a run do you think it I and time wise? Would you be interested in going with us so we have a guide. :)

Last time I did this run with 2 other Rigs, we did it in about 1hr or so. It ends at a picnic area where we had lunch. Have to see how my weekends are for now. If I can I'll let you know.

I was hoping it would be a little longer than that but hey beggars can't be choosers lol. Yea hopefully your schedule permits cause I'd love to get out there! Plus that would be cool to have a nice lunch area and grab a bite to eat.

Just wondering who is interested in going the weekend of August 4th or 5th to try and get a head count so we can get a list and location going here soon.

Ah heck. As long as a stock 2WD drive train can make it thru, sign me up

I've actually never been to Big Bear or any of the trails around there. Of we are doing Clarkes Grade like suggested before I don't think you should have any problems. Sounds/looks pretty moderate to me..

I didn't see that you had already chosen those dates.

I work both of those days and I'm not really interested in losing a workday over this run. I'll be interested for future dates. We need more weekday runs.

I agree with the workday thing. I'm gone the first week of August. My 4Runner is broken currently, and will be until I leave. So maybe I'll or somebody else will set something up mid-August.

Set it for August 4, 2012 and let's just make it happen. It seems that every time one of these meet/runs comes around there is a loner thread of people jogging dates around.
