Solo Motorsports stock length LCA's will soon be a thing!!!!

Spent a couple hours on this, this afternoon. Got more done than I expected. Driver side completely done, passenger side almost. I realized I put the lower shock bolt in front to back instead of back to front, when doing the driver side so I need to go back and fix that. Anyhow, here's some pictures...

In pictures 3 and 4, you can tell the lower ball joint is much more protected. Getting the cotter pin in was a little difficult because of that but otherwise a smooth install.
Picture 5 is with the bumpstop raised to full bump. Not compressed, but touching (I won't ever use cardboard on jack, these arms are just new and pretty. With no real weight applied to the jack).
Last two pictures is everything installed.
 
That looks great, do you have a side picture with a tire mounted to see the difference in distance from the back of the tire to the fender?

I finished up and it was dark so I left the wheels off so I can double check everything during the day time. Looks like rain all weekend but clear on Monday so hopefully I can wrap it all up then and drop it off for an alignment early next week.

I rationalized the entire thing because I went with a set of KM2 LT255/85R16 so i can re-use my old wheels and somehow because that saved me from needing new wheels I was somehow saving myself money or something.
 
How does moving the lbj affect steering if at all?

Sure would have been a nice thing for the long travel kits that are available did. I want to run 35’s when my 33’s are done not sure I want to deal with the the fire wall clearance issues.

this should make your steering much better as you will be able to actually align the front end with the proper amount of Caster.

Hopefully I can let you know tomorrow. On the way home right now to try and bust out the last little bit. Then taking it for an alignment, which should be done tomorrow.

I'm about in this same boat, I'm hoping that running the Solo lowers and SPC uppers lets me minimize the amount of tubbing needed to clear 35s.

These are on. I've gotten an alignment. And I've driven ~30 miles on them so far.

My steering feels slightly tighter than before, but some of that can be contributed to the fresh alignment, new LBJs, and new bushings in the LCAs.

Besides that, driving feels just as it did before.

The install was just as you'd expect for replacing the LCA. Not a hard job by any means. If you can get pull the stock ones, installing these isn't won't be a problem.

When looking at the front wheel location, I can tell a noticeable difference on tire location. The tire is pushed forward and you can tell. It definitely opens the wheel well a lot and I 100% think this will make fitting bigger tires a lot easier. I've been on the fence about what tire size to go with and seeing these, I know that whatever tire size I do end up on will be a lot easier to clear.

I did most of this install in the dark, and double checked everything during the day. Because of that, my markings on the old alignment cams were not the best and I just installed everything without worrying about an alignment. That being said, my alignment was off. Really off. I dropped it off for an alignment and picked it up an hour later. The tech said that getting everything in spec was very easy actually, after I warned him it would probably be a PITA.

For those of you that are considering this, I would only consider getting them with an aftermarket UCA. Stock uppers are more "fixed" and having the "flexibility" of either a uniball or SPC upper definitely helped with alignment. I'm running AllPro's uniball uppers for reference.

Looking at the trucks "stance", you can't tell a difference. I've included a picture, front to back, showing what you can expect as far as a "stance" with 4.5" BS. Definitely stock width.

One of my fears about these upon install was the location of a larger coilover and the CV axle making contact. The CV axle is moved forward, with the LBJ, but the coilover mount is in the same location. I've used my jack to try and see clearance issues and there appears to be none at all.

Bumpstops are my last concern. I mentioned earlier about Durabumps and their mounting location. The supplied directions say to mount them on the rear and only the rear however these do not have rear mounts-only fronts. I don't foresee an issue, except for possible limitations on up-travel but as of now, I'm not too concerned with it.

The weather has been crappy here so excuse the pictures being so dark but I found a break between rains. Hopefully these pictures answer some questions, and I'll try and get some when the weather improves. If you have any additional questions, I'll answer those as best I can too.

I don't think that clearing 35's will be made easier with these. Sure, you may not have to do as much tubbing on the firewall but you are going to have major clearance issues with the inner fender. Battery box and air filter barely clear the normal location after taking a BFH to them. Now you've pushed that tire further forward which will make more contact when fully stuffed.

My next tire will likely be a 285/75/17, or 34. Bigger than what I have, but not a 35. I think I'll probably clear them right now with what I've done for 33s.

Speaking of 35s and these though, I agree and disagree. Of course there won't be as much clearance issues on the firewall. But I think there would still be enough room for a 35 with the LBJ pushed forward an inch. I honestly haven't looked into the battery box and air filter clearances since I haven't needed to, but I'd guess that the concern above all would be the the window wisher reservoir which can easily be relocated.
