Some minor questions (bug guard, CB radio and Tires)

Hi all,

I have some minor questions.

First I just bought some new tires! 265/75/16 which I upgraded from 265/70/16. Question is how much is my speed reading off by now? Are the original 265/70/16 tires even calibrated right to start with? On the door Toyota lists a different tire size so thinking my original size gives a incorrect speed and mileage reading.

I also have an ultraguage. Can it be calibrated for the new tire size?




Second question...

On the way to California last weekend I had the CB radio on. While driving 75 mph plus the antenna started to really wave around. I have the heavy firestick spring so seems like the mount moves. I guess I should just stay under 75mph with the set up. I turned the CB off and pulled the antenna. Mind you that the cb radio was off but it started making a strange sound. This continued for 30 or so min until it stopped. Any reason for this? I have a Uniden 520Pro and here is the antenna set up...



Third question...

I bought a OEM bug guard and went to a dealership to buy the mounting hardware. This is what they said would work...



Well the plastic screws just don't seem to do it. The guard is pretty loose. Is there something that works better?


Overall I don;t really like the bug guard for its intended purpose. It just shoot the 'bug' a little farther up the windshield right into my line of side. I'm sure it cuts down on MPG. It also causes the hood to move/vibrate near the back. I like the look of it though and I feel that it helps the front visually. Are there any alternatives? Was think about trying some plastic dip where the guard would be but feel it might look tacky.

For the speed, I used a speed app on my phone to check where I was in relation to what the guage said, but there is actually a calculator online to convert it for you using tire sizes. I was usually about 6mph over the reading: 59mph on the speedo was actually 65mph with 33" tires. On my last truck, I used a label maker to make new numbers on the speedo, but this time I just remind myself that I am going about 5mph over what it reads, unless theres a cop behind me, then its 30mph everywhere!
