Some questions...

I'm a new owner of a 2021 Venture and had some (not so related) questions.

I feel kind of protective when I normally don't. Are most of you hand washing your 4runners or running them through a car wash? Are the car washes as bad on the finish as I'm hearing?

I have the MegaWarrior rack. Is it practical to just throw up a couple kayaks and tie them down or are additional accessories (J-Hooks, etc.) recommended?

I love the DAC on my truck and use it all the time in the winter where I live. I didn't see that option on my 4runner... is CRAWL a sub for downhill control on snow and ice?

hi there - I can answer 2 of your questions

car washing - I only handwash. Nothing against car washes at all, I just prefer the handwashing process + doing a nice coat of wax by hand. with the handwash I often will notice any small imperfections like small stone chips, fallout, etc. that I wouldn't notice with an auto car wash. As far as whether auto car washes are bad for your car, it will depend on the quality of the car was you go to. some probably aren't the greatest

crawl control is an upgrade from DAC. It will apply brake and gas where DAC only uses brake and is one speed. crawl you can select mutli speed and it pairs with a multi terrain select as well. basically I think of DAC as a subset of what crawl control can do, so yes you can use crawl for situations where you would use DAC

I only ever wash my vehicles with a wand. I've done it this way for about 40 years. A car has tiny grit particles in the dirt that's on it. Those will scour the paint and leave spider webs if hand washing with a sponge or rag (it's hard to avoid spider webs regardless). I then wax by hand.

I'm sure there are people on here who have better methods, this is just what I do and my paint stays nice and shiny for as long as I have it.

Good advice. I don’t give car wash machines any opportunity to damage my 4R.

Yes I'm aware of those, just thought you did the wash at home and had a specific wand you used at home.

Oh, gotcha. Thought you were asking what magic wand I use - LOL! No, I don't have a power washer, just handfuls of quarters and the local car wash.

Only handwashing, unless am forced to use an automatic touchless.
Even then, I don't care for the blowers...
