Something weird happened...HELP!

Hey guys, I just got a 1999 T4R SR5, and it looks great.
Today, I had two keys made for my vehicle because when I bought it, the key they gave me only worked for the ignition. It fit into the hatch lock, glove box, and two doors, but it didn't turn.

I had two keys made based on the VIN number of my Runner(Kinda pricey)...this is where it gets weird. The key's grooves look identical to the first key, but the new keys only unlock the passenger side door. They don't even work in the ignition. Just the passenger door.

First key: Ignition only
New key: Only unlocks the passenger side door.

So, my question is... is there a chance that the locks have just gotten rusty/frozen, or is there a different issue? I would really prefer one key for every lock and ignition. I am fine with two, though. So, if this is a bad problem, would it be worthwhile to go get all new lock cylinders for each door and hatch? I just need help.

My 02 sport is the same, i have 2 keys.

your driver side lock is just worn down from usage compared to your passenger side which hardly ever gets used. That is why a worn key should work on drivers lock and ignition. The new key will eventually work just needs to be worn down a bit, try sanding it a bit and keep trying, worked for me.

Me and 2 of my buddies bought 4runners all about the same time.
99, 01 & 02 4runners.
We all had this problem with using new keys in the ignition and the old keys in the locks. The same key should work for everything but you may have trouble due to rounding of the key and locks / ignition especially if you have brand new keys made.

Hmm. I will try that. All the keys fit just right in every lock. Also, the power lock doesnt lock the hatch...is it supposed to?
