Something wrong with my 4x4

Just replaced my axel and my car is clunking really bad when I turn it sounds like something is going to break. It does not do this in rwd. That brings me on to the second part of my problem, my transfer case is not shifting into 2wd or AWD just blinking and stuck in awd. I've had this problem before and its usually from not using the transfer case often enough but this time it just wont shift even after driving it for 2 hours over the course of a couple days. Anything helps guys thanks.

Is the axle you replaced fully seated in the groove of the front diff?
