I've never run an MT before so I don't know but I have always read that AT's are better in snow then MT's? Now maybe they are talking about regular on-road driving in snow vs deep off road snow?

On-road driving... I have trouble in snow that's less than 3"/4" deep. I found the Dakota MT tends to ride on the snow, if it's too shallow, and then the traction gets MUCH better as the snow accumulation increases - up to a certain depth, of course.
But as you can see by the varying opinions in this thread alone, personal preference and geography plays a large part in what these guys run. I spend most of my time in the mountains of PA (snow, clay and mud), so I prefer a MT tire for year round travels. I've run a dedicated MT tire on my last 3 T4R's and I'll never go back to an AT tire, at least while living in PA. The decision to run a MT is a no-brainer for me!

i just got them installed and sad to say, I'll be needing a body lift to prevent myself from rubbing, it's been ordered and will be installed as soon as it comes in

oh ya.. i moved the fender liner forward, trimmed the bumper,
i got 5100s and moog fj's in the mail, but i think i will still need to
do the bodymount chop and possibly trim some of the rear part of the
front fender near bodymount.
I love the look, they are only barely louder than my toyo at2's were.
minimal road noise IMO.

Figured an update would help somebody out. So i went with the hankook dynapro mt about 1 year and 20k miles, and many off-road trips ago. I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. Off road they're spectacular, on road their quiet no Vibration no awkward wear, they're wearing very slow plenty of tread still in them, don't have one bad thing to say about them. I would recommend them and would buy them probably on my next set as well.

Nice, I just pulled the trigger on 4 - 285 70 R17, Discount Tire was having a sale, $720 to my door. Amazing!

Update
Decided to update this thread again because I am really happy and impressed with these hankook dynapro MT's. Have about 35k miles on them now and there is still plenty of tread left. They still do great off road, on road still decent mpg and minimal road noise. I had a little trouble with vibration on the last tire rotation, but got that issue fixed and just had another rotation and they are doing well. Im pretty positive I will be purchasing another set when these are done. I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone looking for a good off road tire.:bluejump::first:
