They say 90lbs per cross rail static.
8 rails standard = 720lbs

And of course if you have no sunroof you can add 2 more cross rails to fill the gap.

If I understand this correctly, if one cross rail supports 90lbs I'd break a cross rail by stepping on it since I weigh over 200lbs. Somehow my weight would need to be spread over 3 rails to support me.

Also are there ladders for these?

Has anyone mounted a kayak cradle on this roof rack? What did you use?

I was just going to slide it on the cross bars and use the eye bolts to strap it down.

No you wouldnt break it, but it would deflect momentarily . We listed the 90lb limit as the safe weight with no deflection visible. I regularly stand on one rail on my GX470 rack and I weigh 175 with minimal deflection.

These pictures show the before and after with two average sized males on a single cross rail. This is the reason we opted for the heavier duty 3" cross section.

Any rack mount that uses flat plates as the base should work. You may need to drill additional holes to use the slotted anchor system these crossbars use. But it is a versatile system once you wrap your head around the bars and needed hardware.

when you fix the ends, it should have even better strength and might not deflect

The new wind fairing with 40" led flush mount is almost ready. We're sending the final test unit to powder tomorrow. It can accommodate the 40" Heise, Rigid or Baja Designs light for sure, and probably a few others with its universal fitment ability.

Will you be selling it separate?
Also, do you sell side rails without cutouts?

Just wanted to let you know we got your email and it does look like the material shifted during the laser cut. We're going to get another side rail sent out to you as that appears to be the only fix. Check your email tonight or tomorrow with the full resolution.











Ok, so i went out and installed some cross bars on our 4runner mule and I believe you just need to simply loosen the bolts for the entire roof rack and scoot it back a tad. There should be enough wiggle room to do this. I included some pics to show you what kind of distances you should be seeing.

Just a FYI. I installed mine today on a 2017 TRD Off Road. The rear crossbar wouldn’t fit on mine as well. The shark fin does get in the way. All my bolts were loose and we still couldn’t make it work. No biggie tho, I actually ended up just using all the other spots for the crossbars. It looks great and was a easy assembly! I’ll add pics sometime this weekend.

Nice looking rack. I love my SSO slides and a stand-up company.

But the weight limit... total weight is fine, but my goal with a roof rack is to be able to climb up there and load/secure vs. having to stretch and reach from the side. Only 90-lb per rail won't allow walking up top.

EDIT: Just saw post 147, which clears up that issue. Elastic flexing with two men on one rail is totally acceptable!

nm, I see the year. It's possible Toyota moved that shark fin slightly in relation to the mounting points of the rack. I'm going to do some investigation into this and come up with a solution that will definitely work with all years.

Could you measure from say, the back of the shark fin to the edge of the roof towards the back? This way I'll be able to see if theres a difference in our shop 4runner and how to accomodate it best.

It is nearly ready. We've got a batch of them waiting to be cut and powdered next week. This wind fairing will accept the Heise, Rigid, and Baja Designs light bars and potentially any single row bar between 39" and 42"

- measurements you asked for

- the fin is less than 1/2mm from the last flat cross bar

- keep in mind that this was possible after I moved the OEM rubber washers between spacers and mounting bracket

- the distance between top end of the fin and 10x20 cross bar
