Wait so let me get this straight. People can make accounts, as many as they want, and the mod or owner doesn't have to approve them? That's just insane.

dude, they are not people, they are bots... code that runs on a server and trys to create accounts, save the credentials to variables and then parses through the forum pages to post ads based on an algorithm.

might seem complicated, but its really not. most of the code is "boiler plate" meaning copy/ pates and with some minor tweaks... Boom! instant crap in our cornflakes.

In python use beautifulsoup to parce through a site and host your repetitive annoying code on heroku to F-up a gear heads day... week... month until there site is upgraded to the most current version.

Thats just round one. When you realize that the only safeguards are image based "are you a bot" checks, then use opencv, and train your program to pass the bot blocker and really stick it to some one who couldn't give a rats ass about Tramadol.

Just saying its a war of mice an mouse traps... this shit will go on without end because its too much fun to **** with people.

Bots, people, dogs, robocop, that's all irrelevant. The point is, mods should be approving every single new account request BEFORE it becomes active. I've been on forums for many years and there are plenty out there like that. You make a user name, enter your info, and submit. The submission is reviewed by a mod and either approved or declined. Done! That would stop all this instantly, very easy solution.

This place is pretty much garbage now. Does anyone know of another good forum that we could make a mass exodus to?

All you need are 3-5 people that are really instrested. Get a Vbull message board, get a few sponsors to help cover cost and you’re good.

I’ve helped manage a couple forums in the past, not difficult as we were under 5000 members, just time consuming that’s all. You need to check it a few times a day.

I'm just really confused as to why the admins can't do anything. Are they legit not looking into it? Did they just quit doing this and let the mods run everything? Really weird. Usually you have a couple admins for a forum this size, so when events like this happen one of the others can take care of it.

Not that they can't, they just aren't. Why? Who knows, but this forum is going to shit because of it.

This site needs to be run like KTMtalk. Yes, it's rigid, but it's effective.
If it costs users some $ to have a clean forum then so be it. Way better than dealing with all this spam.

I really don't care if they're pissed off, do something about it. They get too many emails? Ah well, too bad, so do we when we get notifications for BS posts. They don't like me reporting legitimate spam, they can ban me, simple as that. Lets see how much longer this place is around at this rate anyway. Don't know about you all but I've about had it. I come here because it used to be an awesome forum, great people, lots of great info. It is still all those things but so much time is wasted on BS posts it's just getting old. It's clear the mods seem to care, I guess, but the admin couldn't care less. Maybe the admin needs to move over and let someone else do his job for him. He chose to do this job, no one forced him, so do it!

Meh. I'm not super computer literate but it looks like a few posters here have given reasonable solutions to the problem at hand.

If vendors start pulling their presence the admins will be forced to do something when the owner's revenue falls due to such.
