So my car had a little bit of rust. So after much reading around I decided to coat the frame, diff and other parts with POR-15. To make sure I had plenty of room I let down my spare things looked good as it was going down. Then it started to go back up. I though oh $*** the cable and what not is rusted on the inside. Sure enough I had to cut it out. I left the tire out and did the POR-15 on the diff.
When I went to buy a new one Toyota wanted to sell me a chain one. Looked beefer but it also looked like a rattle and noise maker. It would seem there are 2 part number for this 51900-60280 (NEW - chain thing) & 51900-35380 (OLD - metal cable). Anyone have any advice one way or the other. My plan was to just buy the older one with the cable and coat the cable in wheel bearing grease so it won't seize. The units only uncovered part is the hole the cable comes through. Thoughts?
