Spare Tire Cable/Winch replacement

When i first bought my 2008 4runner i dropped down the spare and after all the fun dropping it down i decided i would never again do it, it's been there all these years and who ever get my 4runner after i am gone can deal with dropping the spare.:banana:

Glad you took the time to post it with the pictures am sure some will give it a try, as i posted i just dropped it once when i first bought it new in 2008, decided to never do it again and it's still there.

Oops, copy & paste error, should have been 88Center's truck. My concern for that area is for accidents. If no one is ever in the 2nd row seats (or 3rd row if you have them) then maybe you don't care as there's plenty of metal before it gets to the front seat. Please do look underneath in the areas where the control arm attaches to the frame, up above the attachment point is prone to rust through. Obviously losing that mount would not be good on the highway. Also check the frame in the front at and above the tow points. The kicker is what you see gone is not all of the rust. A nickel sized hole could end up being 4" in diameter once the rust is removed. Tap those areas with a hammer and see how thin it is. I personally don't think JB Weld will slow this down much. If you don't have inspections in your area then maybe you could get away with driving it for the winter but I would not let anyone else in the vehicle for liability reasons.

As for what it's worth, maybe a couple grand? Even rusted out 4runners still seem to get decent money.
