Spare tire fitment (stock location)

I’m thinking about adding an SCS F5 with 285/70/17 Falken under my stock spare location. Any issues with this fitting?

My 2010 doesn’t have any room. So I’m excited to see how I can add a bigger tire too! Thanks for posting.
I can’t put one on my roof, too heavy.
I don’t have the $ to put it behind me on the bumper either!
 
Why bother spending the money on a matching spare wheel only to stick it under the truck to get beat up by rocks? Are you planning on rotating the spare? Seems silly. Spend the money on a rear bumper so you can get the spare up on the back of the truck, where it will stay nice and can actually be seen before dropping more $$ on a nice spare wheel.
 
I took the best tire off of the former set of KO2 275’s I had and put that as my spare (replacing stock spare). No issues fitting under the truck. Not sure about 285’s, but I can assure you my 275 fit without any issue
 
The tire will fit, although it hangs down considerably more than the factory spare and reduces the departure angle. If you're asking if the rim and tire will fit it will. I had a 285/70 on my 17x9 rim up there for a short trip back from the shop a while back. I was surprised how dirty it got in 10 miles.
I can't imagine trashing a good rim with it under the truck. Just wait till you can get it hung off the back somehow.

Good advice...I should just wait until i get a swing out.
 
I've had a 285/70/17 KM2 in the spare location. Fits but does stick down a little more.

I'm a fan of matching spares personally. I tend to use them often haha.

someone on other post said 265/80/17. It would be similar dimension but thinner. So no departures angle issue

Are you sure that is the size you mean?

That would be 2" larger than stock and 1" than 285 70. Also, there are no such tires offered by either Discount Tire or Tire Rack.

Sorry 255 80is what he said, don’t know which tire he referred. but it is really a good idea. To match 285/70/17, 255/80/17 works and is available in market

I am running the Falken 275/70/17's on my 18 TRD OR. I bought a 255/75/18 BFG jeep spare (brand new, never run) for $30. I mounted it on the factory steel spare rim. Fits perfect under the 4runner and doesnt hang down as low as the spare tire. Bonus!
