Spark Plug and wire question...

I bought this 4runner in august 2013 (2001 V6 SR5), i am getting a rough idle and decided I should probably get some new plugs or at least check when they were last changed, I start looking through the records and...

I find the shop that installed the plugs put in the following part number Denso k16r-u

from what I can ascertain those are plugs for the 4 cylinder, before i call them, is it possible the car would work with these plugs in it, even if they are incorrect? or is it possible that is just the part # they put on the reciept but actually put the correct plug in, what is the easiest way to check the plug part #, pull one?

Also, they replaced the spark plug wires, but given that I believe they did not install the correct plugs my confidence in them doing the job correctly is not high

The replaced spark plug wires are:

sumitomo 5z-16 x-e

can anyone confirm are these the wires for the 3rd gen v6 4runner? the wires do have #s 1, 3, and 5 assuming that is labeling for the plug/cylinder they should run to, so I am thinking they are for a 6 cylinder, but would like confirmation if possible

best I have found on this fitment is they are wires for a 3.0L lexus IS 2001-2005

That looks close to the ones toyota gave me. I got these from camel back for my v6.

yeah yours look correct, the correct part # that I have seen is:

Denso (3194) K16TR11

which you have in your pic

yup. those toyotas are the correct plugs for the 3.4l. I just switched mine and used oem wires. Eric at Yotamasters suggested oem wires because theyd probably last the reamaining life of my truck. More cost up front though.

ok cool, good info so far, so anyone with anything about how I can check the plug to verify what part #, or do i have to pull it?

and any idea on the replaced spark plug wires .3sumitomo 5z-16 x-e are those designed for the 4runner?

You will have to pull the plugs out to see which ones they are.

I know they say that you should use a dual ground plug, hell there is even a picture under the hood of it, but that was based on older Technology. Do they really perform better than a new irridium plug?

I asked this because the 3rd gen I picked up two months ago has them in it. I have a set of the correct dual grand NGK plugs but is it really worth the hassle of swapping them out?
