speaker advice please

I've alread installed a JVC double din DVD touchscreen HU with the Toyo JBL amp interface. I really want something louder though. Installing it I used the speaker outputs from the HU to the JBL amp interface. I'm wondering if I could use the Pre amp outputs instead and power front and rear door speakers from HU and just run new wires to those 4 speakers??? Anyone attempted that? Also planning on running an amp from the sub pre out to a new 8" sub in stock box. Looking at pioneer sub and Polk Audio DB 842. Which is better? Will disconnecting speaker leads to lower door speakers still allow the other 5 speakers to work?

Not sure if I'm reading you properly, but if your question is "can you use your pre-outs to power speakers/JBL interface?" then the answer is no. Pre-outs are a low voltage line level output intended to send audio to an amp. You could conceivably use your speaker outs that you currently have going to the turn-on interface to power your door speakers. Odds are, they'll push more power than the stock JBL amp. Likely sound better, too.

Based on your post, I'd say you're okay with your plan of getting a mono amp to power an 8" sub in your factory enclosure. You could then run your door speakers from your head unit amp, but I would replace them with aftermarket speakers, since the JBL speakers are fairly high impedance. And they're likely shot after all this time. I wouldn't even worry about the center speaker in the dash or, if your 4Runner is like mine, those ones way back in the D pillars by the back door.

Thanks, I knew when I ordered the amp turn on interface I should of just ditched the JBL system and ordered steering wheel controller instead. :bash::redbrick:
