Speaker help?

Okay, i plan to change my speakers 2 front speaker+2 tweeters and 2 rear speakers. i'm not very good with speakers so i don't know what i have to do. all i know is, switch the speakers from the stock ones and the correct amp. is that it? i also plan to buy a sub but then i need all the space in the cargo area for business use. thanks!

i have a 97 4runner and wondering what is the size for the speaker also on each door?

i'm not sure on the 4th gens, but i think you have 6.5s up front and 4s in the rear. at that, i'm not sure if it'll just be a direct swap, you may need speaker adapters. sub and space always the two fighting each other. you can have a custom box built, it'll get pricy though.. you'll also need an amp for the sub.

well, my friend said if i swap my stock speakers, then i would need an amp just so it won't distort i guess? but i haven't taken out my door panel to see what i can do because i'm a visual learner and usually i taught myself. but about subs, i plan to hang them somewhere on the ceiling maybe? of course i will have to mold fiberglass it but not really sure what i will do. just want some better sound quality than my stock ones.

interesting idea, i'd like to see what you come up with to hold the weight..

i'm sure someone with a 3rd gen will be able to confirm the speaker sizes.

as for the speaker swap.. an amp will make the sound quality cleaner, and if properly chosen, will prevent underpowering of the speakers. all depends on the speakers you choose though. from your sig saying you have a panasonic deck, it has more power than the stock deck. you should be fine. now if you go with speakers like infinity kappa perfects, or something that needs an amp, then you'll need the amp. but it all depends on the speakers you choose.

do keep in mind, when you choose speakers, since you're conscious of space, that the amp will take up space. you'll already need one for the sub(s), so adding another takes up more space. and not sure if you lay the rear seats down a lot and place bigger items that need to lay on them, but that may make that place not suitable to mount the amp..

my 96 base 4runner has 6 1-2 inch a/d/s/ al6 components, and the back has focal access 130a coaxial. the fronts are 6 1-2, th rears are actually 4 inch, but with a spacer rings u can put 5 1-2, well i got every thing hooked up to a pioneer deh-p8600 and jl audio 300/4 amp, sounds good

u can mount a 4 channel amp under the driver seat, and for sub amp, u can build a lil rack, mount it vertically next to the left rear wheel well, and it'll be good, thats how i used to had my amp wen i had subs hooked up

When I had my '97 Runner I had 6 1/2 Infinity Reference series components up front and 5 1/4" coaxials in back. It does take some rigging but it's definitely worth changing the 4's to 5 1/4's in the back. I used a JL 5/500 for my whole system which only put's out 25 watts to each rear speaker (just for fill), 100watts to each front speaker, and 250watts to the sub. I liked only having one amp pull from my electrical system so never had any dimming etc. Only electrical upgrade I did was the "big 3", have you done this yet? I mounted my amp behind the rear seat because it wouldn't have fit anywhere else. Oh and I had the JL stealthbox which sounded amazing for everyday driving and when I wanted more "boomy" bass I would through in my JL 12W6V2 in a slot ported box--boom boom...he he

what did you end up doing with your stealthbox.... wink wink. If you still got it, itll save me the time of constructing a new one out of scratch.

does anyone have the sizing for the tweeters in the front? im leaning toward 2.5" but I just want someone to confirm before anything else.

Actually I recently sold the stealthbox on ebay for $250. Tweets? I just used the ones that came with the components not sure the size either 1" or 1 1/2" don't remember. I'm not sure if you can fit 2 1/2's up there...pretty small space.
