TheDurk - IMO there's nothing wrong with buying grey market speakers (your link) but I prefer to buy from eBay. You can see the sellers have 10,000+ reviews and two year warranties at no charge, plus you get PayPal protection.

The amp I linked comes with a harness. You don't need RCA cables because you can direct connect the speaker wires using supplied harness and wiring diagrams. You will need to know the color codes for the speaker wires. I don't have it handy but they've been posted in several older threads.

If it were me I would run new speaker wire to the doors and switch to component speakers. Can a non-limited be easily converted to component speakers on our 4Runners? I don't know. My truck had factory component mounting and I just modified it to fit the Infinity speakers.

The speaker wires come out of the head unit, and into the amplifier, and then there's another set of wires coming out of the amp that get connected to the speakers.

The amp has a circuit on the input side that reduces the signal coming in to the point where it's at the same level as an RCA input, and then it feeds it into the amplification section. This is what's refered to as "high level inputs" when you're looking at amplifiers to buy.

If you find an amp you like that doesn't have high level inputs, you can buy a little box called a line level converter for about $15 that will do the same thing. It has inputs for the speaker wires from the deck, and then outputs the signals on RCA plugs.

That little Alpine amp is nice BTW. I have one and it will fit in the center stack where the factory amplifier is, which saves running wires all over the place.

Color code is lightest colors go to the front and to the left.
Darker colors go to the right and back.

So your lightest wires will be the front driver, then next to lightest color is front passenger.

The darkest color will be the back passenger, and the second to darkest color will be the back driver side.

It should be white (front driver), gray (front passenger), green (back driver), and purple (back passenger).
The negative will be the same color, just with a stripe.

You could cut it, but I think this wiring harness would allow you to avoid that.

I normally take pictures of everything, but I couldn't find any of the amp installation.

The factory amp is mounted under there, and you can just pull it out and put the Alpine in it's place. It's a little longer, but it will fit.

If you do a bit of research I think you will find it is actually quite easy to do this type of car stereo setup and install.

Any 6.5" speaker will work. Any car with that size speaker should fit.

You may have to chop the wires to fit the adapter, but that's a 5 minute job.

I have all of my original speakers (somewhere), I can look around for them. They still sound alright and if I can find em, they're yours for cheap if you want em.

Yeah. I reused the mounts. And the wires are cut, so you'd have to splice them in or re-solder onto the speaker leads.

Try and find a used pdx amp. The 5 channel will run everything in the type r line excellent. Your budget minded though, so that amp might be a bit difficult to find.

I found my pdx amp for $100 on Craigslist. I use them in all my cars now. Small, powerful and stays cool.

Yes. My brother has a 5 channel Alpine and it sounds very good.

I went with a 5 channel pioneer in case I decide to add a sub later on. So far though it sounds pretty great. For the money the Pioneer was the best bang for my buck. 75rms and an extra channel for an additional sub at essentially the same price.
