speaker question

I have a 1999 4runner limited. It has the seperate tweeters by the window. So do i need to by component speakers (tweeter and 1way 6.5)? FI i cant buy a 2 way speaker and replace the 6.5 inch speaker?

You could put a 2 way if you wanted. The components will generally sound better though. I would recommend sticking with components. Shop ebay if price is an issue

Price isnt an issue, just wanted to know the correct ones to get. What would you reccomend for sound quality and bass response?

Honestly, I would replace the head unit first. I think you will be surprised at the stock speaker performance from an h/u that does 22 rms and 50 peak watts per channel.

That is very true. Replacing the stock HU with a good HU makes a big difference. I would only get comps for the front speakers.

If you get a good set of comps or any speakers in general they will need to be amped to get the most out of them. This might push you over your budget when you considering having to buy comps, an amp, and a wiring kit.

I don't want to threadjack but I need this question answered.....

I recently bought my parents 00' 4Runner and I have installed an:

ED 4 Channel Amp
Pioneer Avic D1

I want to put in a set of 6.5" components up front but I am concerned about the clearance for the tweeters up front. What are my limitations on tweeter size? What modifications will I need to make to get a set of 1" tweeters to fit?

Any help is truly appreciated!

1" tweeters should fit but it's hard to say how much modification will be needed. The tweeters themselves will likely fit with no problem. How the tweeter attaches to the factory tweeter bracket is something you will have to figure out when you get them. I would recommend keeping the factory tweet bracket and modifying the tweeter cup or clips to it. Keeping the bracket will maintain the factory tweeter grille and speaker imaging for a stock look with aftermarket sound.
