I will be getting and installing the 3.5" infinity kappas in the dash tomorrow thanks to all of your help I'm pretty sure it will be fairly easy job. Before I even considered dash speaker replacements a friend who was into installing car stereos told me that that was what I needed with using only the stock head unit which I do not want to change. But I really didn't hear him until after I read about them on here, question is since I know the stock door speakers are junk and I'm sure I will need to replace them eventually what will be my best option for fit and sound quality with the stock head unit and no additional amp? Thanks in advance

Did you ever go through with the upgrades? What did you go with? How do you like it?
Also, thinking about putting the 3.5" Kappas in the dash. Today I had some Memphis M-Class 6x9 speakers put in the door but have decided I can't live without upgrading the dash speakers as well. Any installation tips for someone who's never really messed with car audio before?

Have been thinking about the Memphis audio to replace door speakers. Do they fit well? Sound better? I have never used Memphis before. Looking at these http://http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/speakers/street-reference-speakers/
When I first got them I was a little underwhelmed, but after listening to them a little more I really like them. I don't have much of a basis for comparison as none of my friends have any kind of nice aftermarket system with which to stack them up against, but there is a definite improvement in bass. I think the sound is still being really crippled by the crappy dash speakers (replacement Infinity Kappa's arriving on Thursday), but overall I like them. Let a couple friends check them out last night and they were both pretty impressed. But again, I don't have much of a basis for comparison other than the speakers they replaced.

I've always like the Polk DB series speakers for a good upgrade. I think the DB351 would work great but would require you to form some small bracket (like the kappa) and are a bit cheaper. Plus I think they have a shorter mounting depth so you might not have to grind anything.
The DB651 is the standard in boat upgrades, its only beat by the wet sounds and exile audio stuff - the db651 would be great in the doors and rear gate (minor mods probably required).

I also have the 3.5" Infinity Kappas on order for the dash... The bass in the front doors seems to be good for now, but the sound in the rear gate speakers is beyond bad. WITHOUT adding an amp, what is the best RMS power (not peak power) speaker that would work well with the Entunes system. I can not find anywhere how many watts it puts out, but know that putting a set of speakers in the rear gate with extremely high wattage rating would not be doing them justice as the stock head unit does not put out enough power to drive them. Anyone tries Infinity Kappa 6.5" 2 or 3 way speakers on the rear gate?

very nice. I'm a believer of the infinity products (speakers at least) myself having a kappa perfect 10" for around 10 years now. I had spec'd out the kappa series for the 4runner, they appear to have pretty good specs. Did you use any sort of additional crossover, capacitor, or "bass blocker" on your 3.5s in the dash since they're wired in parallel with the door 6x9s? I know the 32.9s can handle the frequencies, but not the wattages pushed to them.

I know talking speakers with some folks is like talking politics: strong feelings, but I will say FOR MY EARS, these are a great value. While I like strong bass, I can't stand muddy mids and highs and the Kappas seem to give me the frequency range I want for a more than reasonable price. I did listen to other speakers and there are number of others that would have been acceptable, but Kappas were the best choice for me. One development is that I no longer use "party mode" (well, in spirit only). I think with the stock setup, party mode makes up for the lack of power and gives the illusion of a vague suggestion of the possibility of being close to approximating some remoteness to near acceptability. With the new speakers and an amp, the full suite of 8 speakers fills the space nicely and party mode actually sounds worse.
I did used bass blockers that were suggested in the Infinity 3.5 thread. I forget the exact specs., but they seem to be doing their job well.
Note of caution: turn down the ringer volume if you use bluetooth. Almost wrecked my shorts on the first post-install call. That reminds me...I need seat covers.

I have Kappa dash speaker installed without a bass blocker and phone via Bluetooth sound quality really bothers me - sound coming from kappa speaker is distorted(e.g. has popping noise). It happens when volume is cranked up.
I did not install bass blockers in the first place and I wanted to add them to fix phone/Bluetooth issue but based on H2O_Doc experience it's not going to help. But anyway, since I already have bass blockers they are going in anyway. Will share my results.

well it isnt an audio forum, so I dont blame you on the politics aspect. Someone found something that works, is nice enough to share with everyone, all is cool. That's what everyone is here for. Just happened to be researching a very close setup to yours and ran across your thread, so thanks! Just got the Kappas today, need to get some connectors and whatnot.
