vanion and IBall are making complete sense.
My limited experience with speakers is this: if you want really nice speakers, get an amp at the same time. An underpowered speaker that's really nice will sound worse than a well powered speaker that's not nearly as nice. For example: if you plan on getting really nice speakers ( I like Kappas), you gotta get an amp or they sound like crap. If you want to get an amp later, but still want good sound, get Infiniity Reference.
I know from personal experience that the Kappas sound like crap without an amp and the reference line sounds great either way.
