Speaker System?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, but I have a 1990 Toyota 4Runner and I'm thinking about putting 6.5inch speakers all around. I was wondering how I would fit them in the front and if anyone has already done this. I am thinking about putting the speakers in the front doors. How would I go about making the holes for the speakers and has anyone else done this? If so, could you post some pictures of the speakers?

I'm in the same boat with wanting to put 6.5 in the front and 6x9's in the rear in my 95.

For the rear I replaced the side compartment covers with custom MDF plates for 6x9's wrapped them in color matched vinyl. Looked pretty factory all said and done.

Don't buy Alpine speakers -crappy- I have to change em all again.
4 inch in the front lower dash is all that can fit.
6x9 in the back if you want to go custom. I have 5 1/4 in the back - going to replace em with JL Audio - and no you still won't have enough bass. Have to get an amp and a sub for one of these 4runners.

So many companies to go with that offer great component speakers for 4inch, Focal, JL audio, Memphis, and MB Quart are probaly the best to go with but I'd you want 6.5 or 6.75 your going to have to go with the Q Logic set up. Which is awesome by the way, The sound of one 10" or one 12" wont cut it.

I have MB Quart 4 inch components in the front custom mount for the tweeters on the dash. The rear set up I have MB Quart 5 1/4 components. So I have factory boxes (Got Lucky) The 5 1/4 fits great but the tweeter you can mount in the same box, just cut out below to the left, be careful of how you cut the hole, you only have a small area to do this so dont screw it up.(No I didnt screw it up) The amp that runs all this is a Solid 4 Channel Amp by Focal, Subs I have 2-12 JL Audio W3V2 and JL Audio 500/1 (Same subs and amp since 2002 and they are still amazing) I am a huge JL Audio fan they have great equipment and I dont care what anyone says otherwise.

When you hae the set up your looking for remember a few things, rockford fosgate probly has the besy quality wiring kits you can buy and there power distribution blocks and circuit breakers work great. With the power distribution blocks it is essentional a spliter you only have to run one power wire and fuse from the battery back to the PDB and then run 2+ wires to the amp(s). The circuit breaker can be used for all you big boomers.

Anyways when all is said and done you want something you can be proud of so BUY QUALITY PRODUCTS. Just because Pioneer, Kicker, Kenwood, and Alpine advertise the **** out of there ****, and buy cameos in movies and billboards does not mean that thay have great ****. Please read and research before you buy quality audio products there is alot to offer!

If you'd rather not mess with cutting the doors, you can still put 6.5" components up front using kick-panel mounts. They replace the factory kick panels, and provide plenty of room for a nice component set. They give a better speaker angle than the dash-mounts, providing a better soundstage, and the larger speaker means more bass. I believe Q-Logic makes them, but I couldn't swear to it. For the rears, I built a nice full-width box behind the rear seat that mounts 6.5's more like a car's rear deck, and the back of the box is a great place to mount amps, dist. blocks, and crossovers.
