SpeedoHealer v4 in 4th Gen

I just finished installing mine the same way as OP thanks to the write up. I guess the only complaint I have is that there’s a dead zone between around 0 and 5 mph before the needle moves at all. But now when I’m going highway speeds it’s much more accurate. A small price to pay. Not like I ever look at my speedo when accelerating that slow anyway...jus an ocd thing.

Yet ANOTHER thing I need to add to my Amazon wish list :bounce: I keep seeing SpeedoHealer for specific bikes but not the universal ones mentioned in this thread. I suppose I can order any random units made for any random bikes then just cut off the bike specific connector and make my own pigtail!

update: SpeedoHealer emailed me with the correct p/n for the universal unit: H-V4 + SH-U01

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to say thanks for the detailed instructions. I added the speedohealer on my 2008 4Runner and it worked great for my 285/75R16 tires.

I dove a 2007 Tacoma for 14 years before I got the 4Runner. On the Tacoma I used the Hypertech inline speedometer calibrator, which you hook up to your computer to program (old tire size and new tire size), then plug and play. It was a very simple installation, but the speedohealer gives you more precise adjustability.

Holy crap I can not get this to work on my 5th gen. Has anyone successfully added a speedohealer into a 5th gen? My 2015 is not cooperating in the least. I've intercepted the wire from the skid control at the drivers left kick panel and the speedo has not been effected. There is not a VSS wire that I can find in the wiring diagram. There's an SI and then a S+.....


...please help...lol

So i did this upgrade about a year ago. I've now noticed that my speedometer jumps around 25-30mph. Anyone have an idea of what could cause this?

make sure to solder the connections, i had a bad experience with my crimps, so i just redid everything and solder.

So i did this upgrade about a year ago. I've now noticed that my speedometer jumps around 25-30mph. Anyone have an idea of what could cause this?

I made the mistake of starting this late and something isn't right. Wire colors, pins, and connectors all matched the OP's photos. I did not solder. I used the jelly crimps and taps provided. When I turned the ignition on, the Speedohealer powered up and programmed correctly, but when driving, my speedo wasn't moving and my left turn signal is relay was switching really fast with no signal in the front.

Thinking one of the jellies didn't have a good bite, I changed it (green wire) connection to a spade connector and had the same thing happening.
It was getting dark, so I couldn't troubleshoot further. Only thing I can think of is that I got the VSS connections backwards. I connected the green wire to the short piece of the gray with red stripe going to the connector and the white wire to the end coming from the harness. Is that correct? Can the Speedohealer test mode be used to check for signal? Which wheel? Any?

I am so frustrated.


EDIT: So before taking my wife to work this morning, I took a quick look and realized I had left the Speedohealer itself unplugged after changing the connector. Plugged it in and it works great. Turn signal is still blinking fast. Hopefully it's just coincidental timing of a blown bulb and not something I induced while having everything out.

EDIT 2: Took out the battery and checked the bulb. It was fine. Swapped the left and right bulbs and put everything back together. Signals are working like they should and the check engine light/VSC lights that came on during my zero speedo test drive are now off. I guess something needed a reset and unhooking the battery did it. :shrug: Blood pressure coming down.

recheck all your connection, if you have to do it all over, do it, i strip abour 6-8 inches of the outer jacket, then paired up the pos and ground, and then the signal wires, so i have 2 together pair of wires seperated.

now if you dont want to solder, strip the wires on the speedo healer at about an inch. on the car you can stip as mush as half inch, you can chose to thread in the wire and wrap it up with tape. and use a zip tie to hold it together for more security.

now when you put the cluster back in, make sure all the pins/plugs are engage in the sockets. those single bolts kind of hold the sockets in.

yea, it was some bad connections on my end, also my odb-2 wire to my scangauge was cut by a bracket.

replaced the scangauge cable, and i soldered all them wires. no more issues.

also if your needles are bouncing , could be a failing alternator, not enough amperage output due to age. this caused my ac unit to go from 0 to max out of no where a few times.

It only bounces 25-30mph which makes me wonder if that's when the calculation kicks in. Like I'm wondering if the speedohealer doesn't do anything until it hits 25 then it does the math and launched the speedo forward like 10%.

Im just curious if anyone else's does that.
