Spoiler Removal - 3rd Brake Light

Hey CXS, I just sent you a PM about the spoiler LED.

I was looking at the FSM instructions for the spoiler removal and it sounds like to temporarily remove the spoiler (to replace the LED) I'd just need to remove the two grommets on the interior of the tailgate, then I'd be able to access the connector for the LED/center lamp. Is that right?

I've been kinda bugged about this for a while now. Thanks!

Replied to your PM and posted to the other thread on removing the spoiler - 5 minutes to remove at the most.

MyToy4 did you add an OEM spoiler or aftermarket? I noticed you have both a standard hatch brake and a spoiler brake light...

I want to add a spoiler to my runner...

My son-in-law got a stock SR5 third brake light for me so I installed it today. Since his kids spend quite a bit of time in my truck I think he liked the idea of better visibility. The install was pretty easy, mark the metal to be removed, cut it out with and angle grinder, extend the wiring, splice it in and pop in the light.

I'm not a fan of the spoiler anyway so I'll add the SR5 BlackWorks mentioned. All that's needed is a few minutes with an angle grinder to cut access for the wires and mounting. That and filling the holes.

I'm curious how your rear spoiler removal went? I have an 01 that has the spoiler on it and I really want to remove it. I'm just worried how the sealing of the holes will go...

I filled the holes with plastic plugs, a bit of filler and painted the area. I'm not a sticker for appearance since I wheel a lot and have plenty of pinstripes and minor dents here and there anyway. I'm sure a nice job could be done while the light is out bu reaching and patching the holes then.
