Sport Edition vs SR5 - Buying one this weekend!

I would go with the Sport Edition simply because it's 4x4. I also like the look of the SE better than the SR5.

With regards to the miles, try to find out if they were predominately highway or city. 54,000 miles on a 3 year old truck isn't that bad... it's about 18,000 per year vs. the 15,500 per year on the SR5 (at least that's how I would justify it to myself). You could always try to get the seller to reduce the selling price if you're worried about the miles.

Do either of the trucks come with a warranty of some kind?

Try checking the resale value at www.nadaguides.com. Based on my research, both vehicles have the same "Clean Retail Value". I think it's based more on the fact that I'm in the North East and a 4x4 has better resale value than a 4x2.

Need more info. Do they have V6's? V8's? What options? Are they clean? Are they at the same dealership? Are they at a Toyota dealer? Certified Pre Owned?

Based on what you have listed, option 1. Its a 4x4 AND its silver. Of course, I may be a little biased since mine is silver. :

Both are not at Toyota Dealerships but in the same town. Both have the same options. One is at CarMax and the other is a Chevy dealership...if that helps.

I went through a similar decision, and I ended up with the 2006 Sport Edition. It had more miles than the year older SR5 I was looking at, but it is a Toyota so even 50k miles is just scratching the surface.

I did find a 2006 SR5 with 24K miles for $21,800. Does that sound like a good price? This is not from a Toyota Dealership but from just a used car lot. What questions should I ask since it's not Certified like the ones from a Toyota Dealership? It still has the factory warranty and all. Any thoughts?

Where can you purchase a set of Sport Edition 17" wheels vs buying them from a Toyota Dealership? Getting ready to buy a 2006 SR5 and may end up switching out the wheels, I think the Sport Edition wheels look nicer than the SR5 wheels. Any ideas?

Try eBay, usually you can find dealership take offs. The rims sometimes with tires usually have less than 10 miles on them. I agree, the Sport Edition wheels rock, not to mention it's exclusive to the 4Runner. The SR5 are also offered on the TRD Sport package Tacomas.

I'm going to say 4wd. Not only are you getting the full benefits of having a 4runner, but you get the hood scoop which just looks cool, and I'm a bit partial to the rear bumper lights on the pre-06 year. Put some LEDs in there and make your truck even more badass!

The 4x4 sport edition hands down! You won't regret your decision. If you buy the 2wd you could regret not getting 4wd.
I personally wouldn't want a 2wd SUV or truck. Just my $.02
