Yeah a lot of people use the Certifit ones and they claim to be of very good quality, especially for the price. I bought one (thinking it was OEM). I of course didn't look for the Toyota stamp until I got home and realized it was an aftermarket. I also hadn't realized that it was dinged up and wasted my money on it. (Another lesson of "Buyer beware" even if the description says its in perfect condition with no dents).

But, I believe its a Certifit, and had it been in better condition, I would have spent the money and got it painted to match and put on my truck!

thanks guys, i found a good place to get a quart of my color paint and i already have a spray gun and compressor so that will chop off alot of $ by not getting it painted at a shop. looks like my next project after my wheels and replacing my u joints!

I was about to start a thread just like this since I'll be painting a fender and 2 doors evergreen pearl and thought nows the time to get a sport hood as well if I'm ever going to get one.

Wheres a good place to get the OEM paint color? and where are you getting your primer and clear coat?

If u go with certfit, you can open the box and inspect it before leaving their warehouse. We hv been happy with our sport hood especially the $70 vs $300 part. U will get the best paint results with patience, good prep & as sterile environment as possible. Building a temporary plastic paint booth will pay dividends. Good luck

certfit sounds great, i want to get a hood and fender from them. the closest shop from me is a little over 2 hours away near mexico and i would most likely have to drive a tundra there so gas money plays a part but will still be cheaper than 300$ for sure

sounds like were at the same point in our build :hatsoff:
the hood i was looking at was pre-primed, but ive been looking at this site Automotivetouchup.com Touch Up Paint, Aerosol Spray Paint and Touchup Paint Accessories | AutomotiveTouchup | 888-710-5192 there color codes match the dealers, they also have clear coat and primer.
i havent bought or used anything from them yet so i cant tell you about the quality but it sounds good

I was talking to a friend of mine that's a body shop manager at a local shop. He recommended that I use a 1 phase car paint from carquest and they'll mix up the paint for me.

im checking out their website right now, i dont see any type of paint on the site for price refererence. is it something you have to go to the shop ask about?

I bought the aerosol can of my paint from them and it didn't match for ****. Maybe it was just me. The can sprayed really nice, and the customer service was great.

I guess so, didn't know they offered that service til my friend told me. I'll have to drop by and see for myself.
