Sprint Booster

Looks like you removed your pedal. Looks much easier if you do that. Also which end plugs into the pedal, the lager end or smaller end? Thx

yes, much easier to remove pedal. It will be obvious which end plugs into what when the the pedal is unplugged. I can't remember now.

no, I drilled a small hole in rocker switch so wiring is behind dashboard. Here is better shot:

Can someone please tell me what the rocker switch to the left is for with what looks like a windshield & wiper? I looked in the manual and could not find it? Thx

Did you pop out the center rocker and then drill it and run the wire through it and pop it back in? How do you remove it? I assume from behind under the dash. Just don't want to break it. Thx

Heated wipers. Mostly useful for while the vehicle is warming up on a cold snowy/icy day, but they are moderately useful while moving too

OMG. Have owned my truck since I bought it in 2011 and just now know. Thanks very much. Will now use it. Very nice!!!!

yes, take a flathead screwdriver and pry from top or bottom and blank switch pops right out. Drilled hole in the switch cover, ran wire through it under dash to gas pedal, applied sprintbooster controller. with the double sided tape and voila.

Finally installed. Definitely easier taking the pedal off make it easier. The difference is obvious!!! Thanks for all the help.

Lesser known, but the driver's side of the window also has a heating element running up the A-pillar...to help melt built-up snow/slush from the wipers.

Update: I drove approx 80 miles of mixed city and highway today while running errands. In flat city areas, its more fun... redlight to redlight. :D It was nice driving "spiritedly" without having to try too much. The highway however was not as enjoyable. Its pretty hilly out here and the limit on 25 is 75mph. Just slight movements of the gas pedal kept forcing downshifting in auto mode. I tried in manual mode as well and it still forced downshifting there even though RPM was around 3,000 before gently touching the pedal. I also had the Mrs. try it out around the neighborhood and she was not a fan.

My recommendation... if you do a lot of city driving/ commuting in flat areas, go for it. If you live in areas with inclines/declines, haul a lot of gear, or tow, I'd skip this mod.

Good thing I read through this thread before pulling the trigger! I too live in Colorado and most of my driving is highway driving and driving through the mountains and I haul a LOT of gear. I guess I'll keep mashing the pedals!

Any tips on how you ran the wire for the controller? Specifically how you opened up the console to run the wire.

Definitely take the pedal off. As you can see from the picture, I actually ran the controller wire behind the pedal because there is a bump out/ space behind the pedal and the wire is thin enough. Then I took the side panel off and ran the wire behind it and stuck it behind the carpet.

As for the console, as people have stated take the 4WD transfer case knob off and then yank the surround (silver trim) around the console and pull up. Then all you need to do is disconnect one harness and pull it off.

You can then pull the cup holder section off. I wanted the button near the shifter because if you recall the 3rd gens had the button right on the shifter. I then figured I would put it in that spot which really serves no purpose and drill a hole from the back side and got a rubber grommet and slid the wire through it.

I just installed a v2 in mine today, and WOW! What a difference! I gave the red mode a brief try, but it is ridiculous. For now, I'm leaving it in green mode, and I detached the wire.

For those of you who go off road, can I leave it in green mode, or should I turn it off? I'm not sure when I'll get off road, but I definitely want to, I just need to find someplace near me.

-- Update --

Was offroading this past weekend and check engine light comes on with code P2111 (throttle body stuck open)

checked it all with no issue in sight.

Truck starts stuttering with rough idle. Did a code reset and back to normal.

Few mins later, more stuttering and CEL back with same code. Repeat as above.

Finally, zero throttle response. just idling on D or N with no gas pedal input reaction whatsover. Every start/ stop of the engine afterwards had rough idle.

As a last ditch, figured I'd just remove the Sprint Booster before digging further. All CEL gone, truck starts and drives 100% normal.

The Sprin Booster unit is dead.

To save me some scrolling and a bit of reading...How long have you had it installed ?

Personally I would turn if off when going off road and let the truck do the work. I think it would be to aggressive off road?

About 10 months..

Shoot - I just got my V3 in the mail and now I'm sketch about it after reading your experience... Any one else on here have negative experiences with this? I have a brand new TRDP and I am sketch messing with anything like the throttle if it will cause issues.
