SR5 running boards on a Trail Edition

I have a 2014 Trail Edition and found running boards pretty cheap (local sale) but they came off a Ln SR5. (Also 2014). They are factory, so I'm wondering if they'll fit without any type of modification. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

In my case, because two independent little girls needed a way to climb into Dad's truck without hurting themselves.

Does it make it look a little less cool? Yes, but kids make you do the darnedest things.

I have the same requirement... went with NFAb Steps... look cool and function is better than the OEM running board

This is the best, and maybe the only reason for putting running boards on a 4x4 Trail Edition. Heck, I might be tempted to do this for my grandkids. :hug:

My 86 year old mother has a little trouble getting in my '95 Jeep GC now. Add a lift to the T4R and it will be even harder.

But running boards are damage enhancers that offer no protection from rocks or moguls. I will most likely go for MetalTech, Bud Build, etc rock slider bars and just give the kids a lift when they're getting into the truck.

Completely agree, but I'm one of those bad people that bought the Trail solely for its black seats and hood scoop. :der:

because I have a wife that's 8 months pregnant and the running boards are $100... they'll do the trick till I have the budget for n-fab or budbuilt...

Running boards, especially plastic, are not damage enhancers. Actually they act as a step for easier engress. Imagine that! I took mine off as my kids are grown and I am 6'4" but for short people or youngsters they are necessary.

I put them on for my short wife, and because we haul a couple old ladies around for appointments and such. Now I use them every time in and out - it's easier.

Are they studly? Guess not, but I have zero door dings.

When I took the factory steps off my LE, my mother in law had to use a stool to get in and my wife complained a lot. My daughter couldn't get in without being lifted.

My compromise was getting the shrockworks step sliders, they look great, serve the purpose, and my 4year old can climb in unassisted now. The big downside of course being cost and the ridiculous lead time. Plus I went through the added expense of changing out OE rockers, because I'm dumb like that.

I took various measurements along the way I need to post up somewhere of height from ground (including my lift)
