Hey guys. I'm new here and just got my 5th gen 4-runner a few weeks ago. Really liking it so far.
It is a 2011 SR5 4x4. It has an ARB OME lift kit on it (seems like 2 or 3") and 285 70 R17 BFG ATs on stock wheels. it also has a Baja half rack and a few other little things added. It rides nice and does not have much nose dive or body roll... I test drove a bunch of different 5th gens while dong my search and this one just felt right and I opted for it over a trail, plus the price was good....
Anyway, I am noticing one odd thing. There is a very curvy road that I drive on fairly often when going to ride my trials bike. I'm very familiar with this road so I twist though the corners at a decent speed for how twisty they are. The truck seems to handle it fine but the stability control seems to be kicking in at times when I don't sense any loss of traction.
There could be some very slight wheel slippage, but nothing I can feel and I'm sure it could be pushed harder without loosing control. It basically feels like it kills engine power and applies the brake to the inside wheel for a split second. It kind of freaks me out.
Anyone else noticed this over active TCS behavior. My guess is that it is trying to avoid a tip over.. and the sensors may a little thrown off by the lift and/or bigger wheels. One other factor that may be at play on this particular road, is that I have a motorcycle hanging off the back hitch (but it only weighs about 150lbs). Trust me, I'm not at tire screeching speed when this happens. Just at a slightly aggressive speed and nothing that would scare anyone.
