Started To Plasti-Dip My 03

Not Finished yet, but here are a few pics. Need to hit it with another coat or two. I like the front bumper a lot. Jurys still out on the rest.

I just washed the cladding & bumpers then taped everything off. The fenders have a few deep scratches & that shows. Not sure if I want to sand them out. Yet to do the rear bumper but on the front I stuffed paper between the grill and radiator.

Instead of newspaper I bought some masking paper. You can use it for long areas or cut to size. It's really cheap. Having used newspaper for my badges, I like the masking paper better.

Thanks. I'm not sure of the longevity. There are many on this forum who can better answer this question.

I mainly did it for a change & to see if I'd like to do something like this with a permanent paint. If it lasts a long time that would be an added bonus. I know some members have Plasti-Dip wheels, grills, badges etc... that have held up well & for quite some time.

I love it..... makes me want to have the gray molding on the sides and an option to have gotten the green exterior color.. why did they stop that color

Finished For Now...

Completed the drivers side & rear bumper. Took more time than expected!
6 1/2 cans of Plasti-Dip. Both index fingers were numb several times during this project.

There are things I like & don't like about it. Hard to explain. Definatley could use some nice black rims & get rid of the rake. Those would help my Runner to look better.

Thanks Spiggie! I believe they only made them green in 03. If you ever get tired of your wheels I think they would look sharp on my Runner :thumb3:.

Yes. While the hatch was opened I masked the rear bumper inside. I'll take a photo with the hatch open tomorrow. I should have taken photos of all the prep.

I'm getting closer to doing the whole 4Runner .

Picked up some wheels from member Javelin & decided to hit them with Plasti-dip. Here are the before & after shots. I may remove the running boards to see how it looks.

Hope to get some Bilsteins in the next couple of months. The front end needs to be leveled out.
