Well that was easy, roof console all done and operational. Kudos to the trailblazers who identified all the needed wire splices, I just had to bravely follow their directions.
Everything works as it should (I did have a 10 minute head-scratcher when the newly spliced map lights refused to work; then I realized that those wires are always hot, and I must have let the stripped ends touch some ground during the process, blowing the dome light fuse).
In all honesty, I'm not sure if this was worthwhile - all it gains is the slightly larger storage compartment for sunglasses (actually, the compartment is designed for a garage door opener, it has the adhesive velcro pads and the different length buttons to push on the remote when you push up on the lid. But I plan to add a homelink unit to the headliner, so I won't be going that route). But it's done, so it is what it is.
I'll post some photos later, but it's on to the floor console and real cupholders!!!
In the meantime, thinking ahead, any comments on the dash bezel questions I had earlier? Are all 99-02 the same? Where does the Security thing that it's in the current floor console end up going with the 99 dash bezel swap?
