Steal cover radio surround.

As most of you know my radio was stolen earlier this year and last Friday they broke in again and stole my amp laptop and attempted to steal the radio once more but miserably failed on one bracket.

So i started a project i thought up a wile ago after the first one was stolen and they broke my radio surround the first time.

here it is.
1/2 inch square tubing quite thick
back plate is 26 guage galvanized steel sheet.

This is no where completion i plan on lots of things.
1. after the face it completed it will have 3 arms and that will bolt into the brace that the entire dash rests on so hopefully be impenetrable unless you remove everything covering the bolts and undo them.
2. i plan on placeing 3 guages in this plate at the top i hae to make pod holders out of some steel tubing.
3. at least 2 cig ports and 2 usb ports.

I work metal.... When they stole the radio out of my old 87 4runner, they wrecked the dash... so I took plate steel, bent it to form both sides (with cross braces) and welded it all the way down the firewall and along the floor... then I welded in the aluminium case that holds the radio (was hard, not burning a hole in it...but we got her done right!) then bolted in the radio from the back and tack welded THAT so it couldnt be unbolted.....
Then I sold the truck and couldnt get my fav radio out. *face palm*

ha yea i plan on getting the radio i want and keeping it in hopes nothing mechanically fails on it lol

just to note if anyone else trys this i did take a knife and shave off all the little bump outs that hold on the plastic surrounds so that this will be flush as possible.

ok so after quite a wile ive finally got chance to work on this some and im getting really close to having the main part done

the bottom slot will have a plate in it with 3 cig plugs and 2 usbs here is what im using

As for the stereo, its a little over kill in my book, but I doubt your stereo will go missing ever again.

here is where im at, at this point also like to point out that i didn't measure for the radio just guessed and NAILED IT! still to finish is the bottom plate which will hold 3 cig plugs and 2 usb ports also 2 heated seat buttons then the arms to mount it down then powder coat.
