steam inside cab need help

i have a 1995 4runner 3.0

so today i was driving on the freeway ( 65+ ) and there was steam or smoke like a very dim looking smoke going threw out the cab. I thought at my first my engine was smoking so i pulled over and poped the hood and there was no smoke or steam coming off the engine, i look at the exhaust and there was nothing, so i start it back up and no smoke until i hit 65mph and there we go again, smoke!

so i came home i let it cool down for two or three hours, and i checked the radiator and over-flow, checked my heating core, checked my oil and tranny fluid, check vacuum hoses, nothing was off and everything was full

i did replace my exhaust pipe and put a new muffler on, i know it had paper on the new pipes i welded together and everything, but i installed it a week or two ago, and all the paper was burnt off of it. Would that have anything to do with it?

or maybe a radiator cap, am very confused

heater core

you have two heater cores- perhaps one of them has a leak.

I have checked both, there isn't antifreeze around any hoses or wet around the floor mates or anything

Was it steam or smoke? If it's smoke then you should be an obvious smell and something burnt you need to find.

^^^^exactly. If you didn't have any obvious odor, burning oil, coolant etc you should start looking into your wires, fuse block etc. if it was smoke it could be some wires getting ready to ignite. Start carrying a fire extinguisher. That is worst case scenario.gl

Do you have ac? Was it on?

It was steam not smoke and no I never use my ac, but my ac works

If it was forsure steam my best bet is the heater core inside the dash . When it starts to leak from the core itself it may take a while to drip onto the floor. I had the exact same issue except I could smell the coolant. If you want to be sure, take part the dash and inspect the core and surroundings. It's not the most fun but it only takes a long afternoon

We'll I was checking my fuses and wires and everything this morning

And I have aftermarket amp for my sub, and under the dash there is a fuse box and there are two 7.5 fuses and one is for the Ingtion and one is for the radio, and I got them back words

So there was a wire going to my amp to my ignition fuse, would that cause steam?
