Steering fluid leak

Hi,

I recently bought a 1991 V6 Toyota 4Runner. One (of many) issue I'm having at the moment is that there is a leak. I believe it's from the steering. When I re-filled it it stopped making noise and the car was easier to turn. The leak seems to come from the place where the "plastic" hose coming out of the steer reservoir is joined to a metal hose which is attached to the front/right part of the frame (smaller hose, that goes inside the bigger "plastic" hose). The metal hose is all rusty, so that could be the reason of the leak, or I'm wondering if it's not the "serflex" (not sure how to translate in English, but it's a metal "ring" that you tie around a hose with a screwdriver) that is not tight enough anymore. If that's the case, my question is, if I temporarily pinch the "plastic" hose to remove the "serflex" and put a new one, won't there be too much pressure and fluid coming out? I'm guessing that once the engine is turned off, there is very little pressure in the steering "tubes"?

I think you're talking about the hose clamp.
Your correct that with the engine off there will be no pressure.
What ever fluid that is in the line may leak out, but it won't be gushing at you.
