Steering Knuckle

Ok Guys...this is the inside and outside of the driver side steering knuckle. Can the gasket be replaced? As you can see, it is pretty much destroyed with the spring thingy about to fall out. The pics got rotated 90 deg to the left. Sorry.

Yes that’s just a seal that can be had from a few manufacturers. Pry it out, clean with brake cleaner and tap in the new one with a piece of 2x4 being gentle. Piece of cake if you already have it apart.

Where do I "pry" from? The outermost lip? Don't want to pry at the wrong place.

It doesn't matter where you pry on it, the seal is bad so any damage you do to it doesn't matter, the steering knuckle is cast iron so it would be hard to damage it.

Where you want to be careful is installing the new seal, make sure it goes in evenly when you tap it in or it will get bent and you will have to get another.

Mine were completely shot and I knew I needed to replace them. I grabbed the outer edge with a vise grip and just pulled it out. Took a little force but nothing too bad. I did the inner seals yesterday while I was in there to do my cv axles. The inner seal is part# 710573. Not sure about the outer part #.
