Steering Rack boot band tool

What is the tool called that puts the band / clamp on the ends of the boots called? Can or could I just use a hose clamp?

zip tie / hose clamp is fine.

Zip ties are fine since this boot is under low stress. In fact, my aftermarket AC Delco boot kit came with zip ties.

I used zip ties when I did TREs like a year and a half ago.

I managed to do it with a small pair of long nose Vice Grips. I adjusted them so the unclamped position was about the distance between the unclosed hooks on the band clamp, and then squeezed the hooks together until the pliers locked. Then I tapped the little ears over with a drift and hammer.

I used these stainless zip ties from Home Depot and tightened them by rolling a pair of needle nose pliers.
