steering rack

what is the consensus on OEM racks? i am experiencing excessive play in mine, with almost 300k but no leaks. i don't really want to keep getting down there to play around with it, swapping parts. i won't buy aftermarket nor do i want to get a used one that later craps out now i have to replace it again. i'm getting too old to be crawling under vehicles anymore for this kind of stuff. the cheapest i have found is $557 for OE. if anyone knows where i can get it cheaper, let me know.

I don't think you will find OEM rack for cheaper than $557 shipped (Camelback Toyota).

Are you sure it's not the inner or outer tie rods that has the play? Or the rack bushings?

I found a ''detroit axle'' steering rack on ebay, performs well, perfect fit. new. really a bargain for the price. 217$

Not sure if this is of any help, but I recently replaced mine with an OEM steering rack and I have the original if you feel like working with it. I would think it would be easier and cheaper to rebuild it on your own time without experiencing any downtime with your truck, but I know you specifically mentioned NEW steering racks.
