Guys, just remember to positively confirm that you have play in your slip joint before welding it and disabling a safety feature. It's in the TTORA link under "Diagnose your truck in under 10 seconds"
 
the shaft is loose but none of this was happening when i had the old tires on. it drove straight and the wheel was still. anyway, once i get a hold of a welder, or someone with one, i will tackle this and see where i am at that point and realign if necessary.

Yes! Take 10 seconds! And if you decide to fix it just use a couple of LIGHT tack welds as shown. You don't need to or want to weld the whole damn thing.

01thunder has confirmed that his shaft is loose. Tack it, you'll be happy you did.
