stiles97 maint/ mods build thread

Ordered marlin clutch kit and flywheel today. Also ordered Toyota timing belt/wp/tune up kit. Going to order toyota radiator and some clutch pedal parts hopefully next week! Going to be one heck of a project soon! 220k on original clutch and it's still going strong. Have a few camping/wheeling trips planned so figure its time to give it some love.

Wondering if valve cover gaskets I should do also? Not leaking but I have snugged up the bolts a few times over the years. Put new ball joints on last fall. Anything else I should tackle while this is all apart?? Truck still runs great.
Thanks,
Matt

Well it's that time.....got both driveshafts out tonight after making room to work. This is going to be interesting.

which light bar did you use for the grill?

It was an amazon cheapy. I think I paid like $150 bucks or something for it. It's a combo flood:spot. I had to cut the bumper a little bit to make it fit. I really like it much better down there than the one I have up top. Would have to go measure it but I think it was a 40"" model ....

I saw 40" in your first post on the thread, just didn't see if it was a specific brand or not that fit better than the other. Thanks

Was a busy day! Almost got my timing belt done along with doing the clutch earlier. Did get the belt on and crank pulley back on so I don't have to worry about anything moving. Hopefully the radiator shows up tomorrow ( camelback ) and the shifter bushings ( marlin). New plugs and wires and drive belts and call it done for now. Whew.

Finally got a little air underneath the old girl! Had to lose the light bar i had up on the roof rack in order to get it in the garage, but that light was crap anyway.

bilstein 5100's and eibach springs up front=3" lift
toytec superflex coils and toytec/boss shocks out back = 3.75" lift
Installed 1" diff drop up front
Installed the toytec lowered bump stops, extended brake line out back and made a bracket to extend the parking brake cable mount. Welded on panhard drop bracket. Installed front sway bar links in the rear (links are longer) , which seem to fit perfectly.

Alignment shop was able to get it damn close to specs considering the worn front lower control arm bushings which now are next on my to do list.

Next up;
1. control arms/ bushings . Havent decided if I want to just go oem arms or put in the whiteline parts......
2. low range 2wd mod, I have a trailer I back up a hill quite often and this will make life easier!
3. Sliders and skids.
4. spc uppers???

Stay tuned!

Got my new skids installed tonight ! Rci engine / trans / transfer combo. Picked up the a arm skids also but appears maybe I got the wrong hardware as the rear through bolts aren’t long enough. Other than that slight hiccup everything fits perfectly !
