still need shackles?

My leaf springs are straight as a board. There are shackles in place, which are doing a great job getting rid of the sag in the back.

The ride, however, is stiff. I'm thinking about getting some coil springs. 12-14" at 125 lbs.

I was wondering..if I go with the coils do I leave the shackles in place, or remove them? I want to avoid having the back of the runner higher than front.

Then I need to decide which coils to get 12" or 14". Like I said, I don't want to over do it in the back. Any suggestions.

Thanks

If you add the coils, you might need shorter shackles.

Put the coils on, and if its too high get shorter shackles.

You cannot just remove them, as they hold the back of the leafs in place.

The right way to do it would be to get new leafs.

But if its too high in the back, lift the front....

I appreciate the advice fellaz.

There are so many options its dizzying. Unfortunately I am on a budget. I hear coils are much cheaper, though, I"m sure someone will contradict that and force me to reconsider.

For now, however, I want to go with coils. Maybe in the future, if I am not happy with the coils, and happen to have $300 to throw around, I would consider new leaf springs.

Iroke...did you have to do something similar to the Zuk mod to get the 4th gen springs to fit?

Thanks
