My bad - thought we were lucky enough to have a small sub but jeremyc74 is correct, just the rear heater fan. But maybe there's just enough space for low profile sub? Hmmmmm...

I thought the same thing at first glance, and then I realized where the fan noise was coming from in the winter time.

There's actually some room under the driver's seat though. I just put an amp under mine and there's plenty of room. The only bad part about that is having rear seat passengers potentially kicking it.

I started out with just a decent double DIN touchscreen headunit and front door speaks, and then decided I wanted more low end so I added a 10" sub. Now I want another one. :guitar2:

I was able to get a decent sub, Fosgate amp, power wiring and a cheap sealed box for around $200, and it sounds pretty damn good. I used to spend thousands on stereos back in the day, and it always surprises me how much value you get now. The Kenwood deck I'm using has built in crossovers, three pre-amp outs, two video inputs, iPod, sat radio, and all sorts of other bells and whistles and was under $400. I've paid more than that for cassette decks, and that was 20 years ago!! :faint2:

You're killing me man. It was hard enough to get my wife to agree we need to re-do the brakes (just ordered parts for the Tundra upgrade since my pads and rotors are shot anyway).

But I'm really interested in the setup you have, could you pm what you bought and approx. what you paid for each?

I posted this in another thread, so I'll just quote it here. Nothing exotic, but at reasonable listening levels it's pretty good. :thumb:

I've been into car audio since before the car audio craze started back in the '80s. I've done really high end stuff, and what I've found is you get into the "law of diminishing returns" pretty quickly these days. You can build a nice budget system that will sound very good.

I just added a 10" sub to mine. I'm running a set of Pioneer coaxials up front with the factory tweeters still connected, and the factory speakers in the rear door.

I put the amp under the driver's seat, so if I need to pull the sub box out for cargo space it's just the speaker wires on quick connect terminals. If you have the rear heat option, forget about using space under the passenger seat. There's a fan under there.

Here's the amp, sub and box that I'm using. It's budget setup, but it really sounds pretty good.

For under $200 including power wiring and fuse, the truck now bumps pretty good when I want it to. My next step will probably be adding the Alpine amp for the front and passenger speakers, and upgrading those. The sub will make more difference in the sound quality than just the bass, because you take that load off your front amp and speakers and move it to something designed to handle it. :boink:
