Hey guys I need some suggestion. I have a 4 runner 2013 and the stock antenna is way too long. I'm having hard time taking it off. Is there any suggestion on getting off and any replacement for shorter one? thx

If you're like me and don't care about the radio and just use your iPod/iPhone or any other smartphone, this is what I did. You'll have very limited radio stations if any at all.

My '13 LE came with a small plastic "thingy"/ wrench to take the antenna off with. I laughed because I actually had to ask the salesman what it was. I see why now though, already swapped mine for a 14" billet off amazon.

I took a hacksaw to mine and chopped off about 5-6 inches. You could go through the trouble of removing that "static ball" on top and replacing, but I didn't and I cannot tell any difference - except I don't slap it against every garage entry now. :)

8mm open end wrench and you have to give it a flick of the wrist. You don't want to just turn it slow as it will turn the base too and break off the wires inside the fender.

Mine just twisted right off without any fancy tricks. My AMI big stick has been flawless. I think I got it from auto anything.com, several sizes and finishes to choose from. Mine has been just as good as stock if not better.

I'm keeping the ugly, long antenna. It kept me from hitting the roof rack on a low garage entry. I call it my early warning system.

Hi MDtobe9,

Ever heard of "Antenna-X"? 13" pvc, called "The euro". I think I paid $19.00 and...it actually works as well as the original or better. Google "Antenna-X.com".

New antenna 160.jpg

Best regards

^^^ Just bought that on Amazon tonight. Thanks for the review, glad it works well, and for $19.00 it's a no brainier.

Yeah, come to think of it, I may have gotten mine through Amazon as well; I get a lot of my stuff from them, and never have a problem when returning an item.

Cheers

I don't know - the AntennaX looks great, but according to the reviews on Amazon, it has a tendency to develop Peyronie's disease at highway speeds.
