stock radio for 2001 4runner SR5

Hey everyone. I looked for a classifieds or a WTB forum but I didn't see one. Not sure if this is where this needs to go so mods, feel free to move it if need be.

Anyway, I need a stero for a 2001 4runner. Mine is on the blink (literally, the back light is out.) Anyway, if anyone has one that they wouldn't mind selling for cheap that they have left over after they put an aftermarket stereo in, please contact me via PM. Thanks! :bigok:

Not the case. The lights in my wife's radio in her '00 4Runner started having issues 3yrs ago. (Lights would blink to the beat of the music. Funny at first, but got annoying real quick.) Contacted Toyota and they said it'd be at least $300 to send it out for repair. I just laughed at the thought of that...

Instead, I posted a similar thread as arkrunner's here and found someone willing to sell me their stock radio for $25 shipped.

Installed it with ease and it has been working great ever since. :bigok:


EDIT: BTW arkrunner, if you still need an oem head unit, look up some of the guys on http://www.yotatech.com/f2/. A good many just recently installed aftermarket HUs...they might still have their old ones.

Thanks for the info rock!!! Mine did the same thing. Blinked with the music, but now it's totally off. But I can hit the side of the radio and it will blink. I have taken it off and messed with the plug but it didn't help. Thanks again. :bigok:

I'm sure someone has one out there they wouldn't mind letting go for CHEAP. If you put in an aftermarket system...then why do you need your old one? :biggrin2: Surely it needs a good loving home! And that's where I come in! :sadwave:

Check your local salvage yards, the one I frequent usually sells them for less than $40

I currently have the AD6803 with non-working lights. I'd like to replace with the same model, or possibly the JBL 6-disc stock unit. What other model numbers would fit without having to change any wiring?

any stock unit for a 3rd gen will fit. As long as you still have your amp, which I'm assuming you do, all models will be plug and play. You should not have to do any wiring, just snapping the harnesses together.
If the JBL unit you're referring to is from a 3rd gen, then it should fit.
