I've seen some really nice new models whilst driving around but it seems that Toyota has narrowed the stock tire they use. Is this just a figment of my imagination or true?
Limited - 245, SR5 and TE - 265
They just look small after seeing so many 285s on here.
I finally upgraded to ATs, but in stock size and they look larger than OEM tires. But I'm still envious of the 285s.
However note that the Limited and SR5 use 7" width wheels, while the TE has 7.5" wheels. Wheel width has some effect on how wide the tire *looks*, even if the actual tire section width is the same.
So the Limited will look the thinnest and TE look the thickest.
I measured the stacked height of my tires before swapping last time. The stock 20" wheels and tires measured 37 3/4" all four stacked together with a straight edge across the top. My 275/70/17 BFG KO2 tires on stock 7" Toyota wheels measure 40 7/8 all stacked together. All tires were at there normal psi.32 in the 20s and 37 in the 17s. That comes out to .781" increase in width per tire.
