Stopped by the shop this morning.

While out and about stopped by to see how the motor work was coming and he had the old head off and was prepping the new one. Said everything looks good on the block and stuff, he hopes to have it all together tomorrow.

if it was my engine i would have pulled it all the way out to do the oil pan seal. and to clean all the block maybe paint it too.

At that point there's only 6 or 8 bolts holding the motor in. Might as well pull the whole thing like BV said and clean it up 100% and replace the rest of the seals and check out the main and rod bearings too.

Along with the above I would do a mild port and polish on the head - since it's already off.

Its getting a new head. He is going to pull more stuff off and clean/check. I am not doing this as a show truck or anything it will be parked at the hunting club but I am on the hunt for another one I want to build for home.

the oil pan gasket is just so it doesnt leak just something i would do like i said its not for just a resell thing. if you decide to sell it and it doesnt leak and looks good the price goes up and youll spend maybe 30$ on paint and cleaner and a seal.
like i said its just what i would do not saying you should but it could help re sell value and would be safer keeping the oil in the engine.

He is doing the oil pan gasket. I guess I should have had him do the rings and bearings but with my compression he did not think it needed it we think they were done in 2010. The guy who did the head back then screwed up so that's why the new head.
