Sorry for the delay in responding but we have been super busy over the holiday season with trips and such. So far I LOVE the K9. I too was leaning towards a GOBI but one of my friends has a K9 on his Lexus and was singing its praises in build quality, ease of use, and that its aluminum. Once I called and they said I would have it on my doorstep the week after ordering I was sold.

Over New Years we set up my buddies Cowboy Tent which has a wood stove so we could have a nice camp. Was a blast and here is a few pics from around the area we were camping:

Not counting the sharkfin I have a minimum of 2.5" off the roof. I think the brackets would be pretty easily customizable and you could drop the entire rack down at least 2" if you wanted. You would have to replace/relocate the antenna but that shouldn't be a huge deal unless you wanted to trim that middle slat as well to allow it to protrude through the rack.

The rack does come with a wind fairing and it is actually installed in the pics. It is not a traditional fairing that extends down to the roofline though. It only extends maybe two inches below the bottom of the rack.
I didn't think it would do anything at all but I drove it with and without and it actually does cut down on wind noise quite a bit.

I have been super busy traveling and taking advantage of this awesome snowboarding season in the southwest but hopefully I can get out on the trail soon and have some off-road fun in the Runner

Been awhile since I have been able to update but last week I headed down to Sedona to try out Broken Arrow and Soldier's Pass Trails. Here are a few pics I snapped while wheeling:

And yesterday I headed back down to Sedona (since the weather is perfect there right now) and I did Oak Creek Homestead Trail. Unfortunately the hardest (most fun) part of the trail doesn't really allow for pictures. There is absolutely no place to allow passing and it is a long technical section with lots of blind corners and you certainly don't want to have to back down it. So to avoid running into someone coming down while I was going up I didn't stop and take pictures on that part. But here are a few pictures I took on other parts of it:

This is how the trail should look out of the factory (blacked out). Great looking truck and very cleanly done with the mods. Can't beat the pics either!

drooling over this build man, got some questions. what size spacers do you have and did you powder coat the wheels or is that plastidip? thinking about doing it to mine but i doubt it will look as good on the mag grey

Sedona is a nice to place visit. Nice, pictures.

I agree! I don't know why Toyota still puts chrome accents on trucks. I hate chrome
It was definitely the most steep I have gone down so far in the truck so definitely a little tense
I have the Spider-Trax 1.25" spacers installed. Right now these wheels are plasti-dipped but I plan to have them powder-coated since I really like the Trail wheels and want to keep them. My wife drive's this every day though so finding a few days where I can have the wheels off to get them coated is tough. Hopefully soon.
If you aren't sure you will like it though I definitely suggest plasti-dip. It's cheap, super easy to do, and will give you a good idea if you want to have your wheels powder-coated down the road. Just dip them and drive it for six months to see if you really like the look. Personally I think black wheels look great on mag grey 4R's.

A few things have happened since my last post
One was detail day. Had to get the paint cleaned up and buffed out to remove those off-roading pinstripes
Then I also finally got around to a few mods:
Had the wheels powder-coated
Did the rear diff and locker breather relocation
And did the independent control fog light mod written up by Antman

Also today I mounted my painted crossbar system to the roof rack. I needed to be able to use the Thule Kayak mounts I purchased but the bolts on the kayak racks did not line up perfectly with the slots in my roof rack. Since just about all Thule and Yakima rack attachments are made for crossbar systems I decided to make a removable crossbar for my rack so that I can easily attach my kayak racks, snowboard racks, bicycle racks, etc.
I made the crossbars bolt-on rather than welded on so that I can interchange crossbar width's. When I am transporting all three kayaks I will use the wide crossbar which is actually wider than the rack itself, but when I have two kayaks or other Thule attachments I will use a shorter crossbar.
