Strut Assemblies ~ 2WD vs 4WD

Can someone please help explain the difference in struts/springs for 2wd and 4wd models for the 3rd generations. I am looking for a strut assembly for my 2001 "2wd" Limited (with 16" wheels) The only assembly I'm currently able to find is Gabriel and some off brands on eBay & Amazon. I see several choices for 4wd models. I thought the struts were the same....

Any suggestions for a strut 'assembly' for a daily street driver looking for a soft ride? :der:

Thanks in advance

Unless your front springs are shot you just need the shocks and someone with a spring compressor. And I just looked on Olathe Toyota's parts site and it looks like all the part #s are the same on shocks for 2wd or 4wd

4wd springs will give 1" higher ride height. May be somewhat stiffer as well given you don't have the weight of a front diff (not sure you'd really notice).

Otherwise, parts are interchangeable.

For the nice soft street ride, stick to OEM.
