Thanks for all the kind words and links guys! I only saw my skid from the side and it doesn't look good. Have not had a chance to get down and look from underneath yet. I think I may consider an aftermarket skid after all. They definitely look more solid than the black tin-foil thats underneath there now.

I like the font of the V8 better than the font for 4Runner - more modern & clean. But I'll be honest, I don't care much for the mismatched badging. My personal preference only.

I concur! The "V8" emblem is from the Lexus GX and/or Landcruiser. I hate the "western" looking "4Runner" font and wish it was like the V8 font. I figured since Sequoias and other Toyotas also have "mismatched" badging straight from the factory, my mix and match wouldn't look too off. It seems that all other SUVs with V8s represent via badges on their liftgates so we must also have proper representation as well.
Not trying to start a badge thread but I started with just the "V8" badging which I think may have looked just as good, maybe even better due to its simplicity.

For the record, I placed an online order for the same v8 badge. I'm hoping it will look ok without the ''iforce'', and save myself a few bucks.

That picture above shows the rig without the "iforce" badge, and it looks fine. I think you could go either way. I believe the Tundras have that badge on the
fenders.

Gonna order this as well. Lookin at either the Glock E-tool or Gerber E-tool. I coulda probably hoed a lot better with one of these instead of a road marker. If anyone has any input on which one to get, I would appreciate it. I would like to place my order in the next day or two cuz you never know.

During the winter I never leave home without a shovel, traction aids and a tow strap. And since this is my first winter with a 4x4 i've used them alot. Turns out 4x4 isn't as capable as I always thought and that saying "The 4x4 truck is the one that's farther in the ditch" makes so much sense now.

Another question, what adhesive did you use and how did you prep the area? How'd you line things up properly?
Is there any risk of damaging the part underneath? Only reason i ask is cuz a buddy i know had an old 87 Hundai Excel and he made it a "rolling joke" by walking through the bone yard he worked at, collecting the emblems from the high-end wrecks and putting them on his Hundai. One imparticular was a big Mercedes symbol he adhered to his hood. He cleaned, used an alcohol prep pad, had some auto adhesive that was made for such decor and emblems,...and after the winter, the paint had bubbled underneath and really screwed up the hood. Obviously i wouldnt want this to happen with my Runners.

These are already pre-adhesived from Toyota with 3m. Just clean your area with warm plain water, let dry ~15min, the stick it where u want. I have OCD so I used a level and ruler to keep things aligned. Hope that helps.

^^^Exactly this. Only buy the ''new'' ones from Toyota and they will have the adhesive tape. I'll be as anal as Snesley when I do mine!

Using a shovel to self recover from snow can sometimes be a loooong, repetitive process. A short handled shovel might make you consider suicide as a solution. Best would be just a regular snow shovel. Good reason all by itself for a roof basket.
For snow, I carry something like this.

How about a surplus US military e-tool? They're a lot like the Gerber, and typically come with a rubber belt pouch which keeps them from rattling around (rather than having the pouch be a $15 option). I keep one of those under my driver's seat. Better yet, buy a couple, and if you have anyone riding with you, you can put them to work too!
